Elmbridge Mencap Supporting children and adults who have learning disabilities as well as their parents and carers.

Elmbridge Mencap is affiliated to Mencap but works independently on a local level for the benefit of people with learning disabilities and their parents/carers in the Elmbridge and surrounding areas. We are here to offer help and advice in a practical way and we hope enrich the lives of all people with learning disabilities. We do not receive any support/subsidies from Mencap or any other charity/

government departments. We rely on income from hall lettings, fundraising activities, membership subscriptions, donations and grant awards.

Another great fun time had by all at Elmbridge Mencap Day Service. 🤩 Lots of movement and exercise this week with dance aerobics, a fun Rave and Regulate dance session, yoga x 2 and an ABBA dance party!!!
We also got together to workshop our own Code of Conduct policy, from now on we are all going to be total angels!!!😇😜

Another fabulous, eclectic week at Elmbridge Mencap day service! Bingo and boccia, cooking and creating, plus not 1 but 2 relaxing and rejuvenating yoga 🧘🏽‍♀️sessions!
Our sensory garden is looking simply gorgeous and colourful- it’s definitely the place to be now summer is upon us! . We also ventured into our woodlands, a beautiful area to enjoy exercise, fresh air and to be at one with nature. Plus - football ⚽️fever is starting to take a grip as we started our World 🌍 Cup🏆sweepstakes!! Come on England! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

WOWSERS!!!!! The Big Top 🎪 came to Elmbridge Mencap Burview Buddies (formerly youth club), this week!!! Huge thanks to Paul from ‘Shooting Stars Circus Skills’ for making this workshop so much fun and a roaring success!!! Our members were soon juggling, cycling on teeny tiny bicycles, spinning plates, lassooing and all manor of crazy fun stuff!! There were lots of laughs and a great sense of achievement as our members surprised us all with their many new talents!!

WOW! It was hot 🥵 hot 🥵 hot 🥵 at Elmbridge Mencap Day Service - just as well that we are all a bunch of ‘cool dudes’!😎. Our 🌻 sunflowers are growing fast and will soon be ready to be planted in our beautiful sensory garden. Speaking of which, our very own Dennis can be seen here doing a great job of keeping the garden neat and tidy for us all to enjoy. Amongst other things, not only did we enjoy our fabulous relaxing yoga soundbath this week, we also had a yoga session for stretches and poses, with a cooling dose of meditation too!

Thank you so much Terry and Friends band for coming to play for Nova Club last night. 🎶🎹🎸 It was such a warm evening 🥵😎 Thankyou to the members and helpers who also turned up despite the heat. Bit warm for dancing for most but well done to those who did. Great band to listen to and to sing along 🎶🎸🥁🎵Very enjoyable evening 😊

Another great week at Elmbridge Mencap Day Service with lots of activities like cooking and gardening incorporating valuable life skills.
We created our own yummy pizzas 🍕 for lunch and also learned how to make delicious 😋 sausage rolls to take home!
The lovely ladies Amelia and Bonnie from Freewheelers visited for a very popular ‘Ecstatic Dance’ session - a great opportunity for everyone to let themselves go and ‘dance like nobody is watching’!!!

What an amazing evening we have had at Burview Buddies (formerly Elmbridge Mencap Youth Club), thanks to the lovely Charlotte of ‘Sounds Like Yoga’ 🧘. We were treated to a wonderful yoga soundbath session with breathing exercises, tapping and stretches, followed by a completely relaxing sound sensation to allow everyone the chance to rest, relax and meditate. Congratulations everyone, you all participated brilliantly!!! 🤩.
