๐ชถ 5th September โ Day of the Djed ๐ชถ
Today we honour the ancient Egyptian Ceremony of the Raising of the Djed Pillar โ one of the earliest recorded ritual practices of Ancient Egypt.
The Djed is one of Khemit's most enduring sacred symbols, representing stability, endurance and regeneration. It became closely associated with the backbone of Wzr (Ausar/Osiris) and his restoration to life, although earlier traditions also connected the Djed with Ptah.
The ceremonial raising of the Djed was therefore far more than the raising of a physical pillar. Symbolically, it was an act of restoration โ bringing what had fallen back into alignment and re-establishing strength, order and stability.
โจ For us today, the Djed can offer a simple but powerful reflection:
What helps you to stand firmly in your own centre?
As we begin the gradual transition from summer towards autumn, this ancient symbol reminds us that true stability does not necessarily mean remaining unchanged. Like the spine that supports us while allowing movement, we can remain rooted in what matters whilst adapting to what life brings.
Perhaps today, take a moment to stand tall, feel the support of the Earth beneath your feet and imagine your own inner Djed strengthening through your centre.
๐ค May we stand in our truth, restore what needs realignment and carry our strength forward into the changing season.
