Ian is such a happy resident, always willing to join in with every activity, lend a hand to the staff when he can and is so compassionate to other residents and family members!

He's been counting down the weeks to his birthday for some time now! For those who know Ian well are used to him wearing his Christmas t shirts every day and are always ready for what games he may have in store for them on their shift or when they come to visit their family members!

Ian always looks forward to a music session, so last week we had a joyful afternoon singing some golden oldies from the 50's and 60's of which our residents chose themselves. A few hits from ABBA and of course finished we the set with 'I wish it could be Christmas everyday'.

Yes, we are in June but here at St Katharine's House, we take our person centred care to a whole new level. Our fantastic chef Katie made the most adorable Christmas cupcakes and Ian received Christmas themed birthday presents from other residents and their families. ๐Ÿ’œโญ

We had a wonderful time this week at St Katharine's House with our Culture Tasting Day ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’œ

The home was filled with delicious aromas as we explored a variety of cuisines from around the world. Our wonderful residents enjoyed trying different dishes from the food stations, with plenty of smiles and curiosity as everyone tucked in and discovered new flavours.

A special thank you to our lovely nurse Nancy, who cooked some delicious dumplings that went down a treat ๐ŸฅŸ There was a real sense of togetherness throughout the day, with staff and residents enjoying the experience side by side.

It was a lovely way to celebrate diversity, spark memories, and bring everyone together through food ๐Ÿฅ˜โœจ

Our monthly pub night at St Katharine's House had a lovely summer twist this time as we took the celebrations out into the courtyard garden to make the most of the beautiful weather โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฆ‹

With butterfly wings, fish and chips, tasty nibbles and plenty of refreshments, it was one of those evenings where everyone just settled in and enjoyed themselves. A few of our wonderful residents even got up for a dance and a singalong once the music started ๐Ÿ’œ

The courtyard was full of smiles, laughter and fluttering butterfly wings as the sun began to set. A really lovely evening for everyone๐Ÿ˜Š

Last week for Dementia Action Week, we brought together our wonderful residents, families, staff and members of our local community for a very special sponsored walk around the beautiful grounds at St Katharine's House ๐Ÿ’œ

The weather behaved itself just long enough for everyone to enjoy a gentle stroll through the gardens, with plenty of chats, laughter and stops to admire the flowers along the way. It was lovely seeing so many people come together for such an important cause โค๏ธ

As well as raising money for dementia awareness, the day gave our residents the chance to spend meaningful time with loved ones and make some wonderful memories together ๐Ÿ˜Š

We had a wonderful visit to Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary ๐Ÿซโ˜€๏ธ

It was lovely to see the donkeys so well cared for and content, happily grazing in the fields. Our residents truly enjoyed spending time with them, stroking the donkeys and appreciating being close to such gentle animals ๐Ÿ’›

Afterwards, we enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch on the grass and with the weather being so kind to us, it made the day feel even more special ๐Ÿงบ๐ŸŒฟ

On the journey home, Lee shared his extensive knowledge of the local area and we learned so much about the beautiful places we live so close to but may not always notice. A special thank you also goes to our wonderful driver, Shoo, who is always so accommodating and a real pleasure to spend time with ๐Ÿ˜Š

It truly was a memorable day for us all.

This Sunday, we had a brilliant time celebrating World Baking Day ๐Ÿฐ

We all agreed on making a classic English trifle and everyone got involved, using their baking and decorating skills to create layer upon layer of deliciousness ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿฎ

Of course, there was a little taste-testing along the way... purely for quality control, of course! ๐Ÿ˜‰

What a brilliant day at St Katharine's House as our residents, staff and volunteers came together for a very special gardening project ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ˜Š

With help from volunteers from Taylor Francis, and alongside the passionate team at Parkinsons.Me, including founder Ewan Stutt and chair of trustees Gary Strickland, an underused outdoor space was transformed into a peaceful, accessible area for everyone to enjoy. Our residents were right at the heart of it, getting stuck in with gardening and enjoying time outdoors together ๐ŸŒฑ

We were also pleased to welcome Iain Cameron, who even rolled up his sleeves and joined in with the gardening. There were plenty of smiles all round, especially by the greenhouse where residents and staff worked side by side and enjoyed the fresh air ๐Ÿ’œ

This lovely project reflects what the Parkinsonโ€™s community is all about, connection, care and making meaningful moments together. To find out more about upcoming Parkinsonโ€™s Connection Cafรฉs, visit www.parkinsons.me ๐ŸŒฟ

St Katharine's House came together for a really meaningful VE Day celebration this week, with plenty of music, dancing, and time spent remembering loved ones and sharing memories together ๐Ÿ’œ

Charmaine had everyone smiling with her beautiful songs, and before long there were plenty of toes tapping and residents up enjoying a dance together ๐ŸŽถ

Our lovely catering team also treated everyone to a delicious cream tea, which went down an absolute treat. A very special afternoon shared by all ๐Ÿ˜Š
