Hi all
Please note we have not stopped ordering prescriptions for patients. This is a misunderstanding. For those patients that still require the support from us we are glad to continue, however, for those that are capable we would encourage patients to order prescriptions using the NHSapp or GP online services. There are several reasons for this including the following:
1. Only the items required by the patient are requested (on occasion we will order medicines as per previous instructions but they are no longer needed). This prevents wastage and stock piling of medication.
2. If there are any issues with repeat medication then the surgery can respond directly to the patient rather than them finding out when they come to collect.
3. The online services will provide live updates on the progress of prescriptions.
4. Some surgeries have already introduced a policy whereby pharmacies are not to request medication for most patients.
I have made the decision to introduce this now so that patients can get used to the online services before it is implemented by their surgery.
I want to reiterate we are ALWAYS here to support wherever necessary. I have been in the village for 13 years and have always prided myself on providing a good pharmacy service to everyone and will continue to do so.
