✈️ BACK AT IT!

I’ve been a little quiet on the painting front after a seriously busy summer, but it feels good to be back — shaking off the rust and getting some paint on the walls again!

This one was painted for Down Activity Centre, and being so close to Biggin Hill, I wanted to make sure the aircraft had a genuine connection to the local area.

So I based the Spitfire on K9998 of No. 92 Squadron RAF, carrying the famous QJ squadron markings. 92 Squadron arrived at RAF Biggin Hill in September 1940, right in the thick of the Battle of Britain.

K9998 is particularly associated with Pilot Officer Geoffrey Wellum, one of the youngest RAF fighter pilots to serve during the Battle of Britain. He flew with 92 Squadron from Biggin Hill and later told his incredible story in his memoir First Light.

There’s actually a full-size replica of K9998 – QJ-K standing today as one of the Gate Guardians at St George’s RAF Chapel of Remembrance at Biggin Hill — so it felt like the perfect aircraft to reference for this piece.

Really enjoyed getting stuck into this one. Plenty more to come now I’m back at it! 🎨✈️

That’s a wrap on this play area! 🌳🛝
I finished this one a few weeks ago but went back today to get some final drone footage. It’s always nice going back to see one of my builds actually being used — kids’ toys everywhere and the treehouse well and truly taken over 😂 Exactly how it should be!

It’s fair to say those 11 post holes weren’t much fun to dig by hand in 35-degree heat, in ground that hadn’t seen rain for months 🥵⛏️ I definitely questioned my career choice a few times that day 😂

Im happy with how this one turned out. The parents loved it, but more importantly, the kids loved it!

I get a lot of satisfaction from designing and building these treehouses and play areas and seeing them come to life.

… onto the next one! 🔨🌳

If you’ve got an idea for a treehouse, play area or something a little different, head over to drop me a DM and I’d be happy to have a chat and put together a quote.
