Things have changed somewhat so it's time to get reacquainted. If you've been following for a while, thank you for being on this journey with me and if you're new here, welcome!

Hi, I'm Jo! 😊🌿

Mum, wife, Cocker Spaniel owner, Ragdoll cat mum, and yes bird keeper too! I love being out in nature, travelling, or curling up with a really good book - or better still combining all three!

Today has been my first official day of self-employment. I started my day with one of my mentees from the Crossing Thresholds programme and I couldn't think of a better way to start this journey! Something I was able to do alongside my role I am pleased to be able to continue on a voluntary basis as this work has always felt so important and is such a privilege.

I spent years in senior leadership, giving everything to work and family, and eventually burned out (more than once). That experience, combined with general life-ing, changed everything. It sent me on a journey back to myself - through movement, meditation, yoga, poetry, Reiki, and learning (slowly!) that I can't pour from an empty cup.

I've come through burnout, bereavement, chronic health challenges, and more than a few crises of confidence. And everything I've been through has brought me here - to Truly Rooted Wellbeing, work I'm now fully devoted to instead of trying to manage it alongside a full time job. Because this is the work that's most important, that truly lights me up and I simply couldn't give what I wanted to give, what people deserve to receive, while juggling a job that ultimately drained me.

I'm here for women who are holding a lot, who've quietly lost themselves somewhere along the way, and who are ready to come back to themselves, gently, and at their own pace (with some gentle encouragement!).

I'll be sharing more about me, why I do this work, and how. I hope something here resonates. πŸ’›

Follow along and share with anyone who might need this. Spread the love 😊

I just want to give space to something that is rising while I am in the moment.

A wave of emotion uncontrolled and quickly coming for the loss of my dear friend last September. All it took was a question on a course around who are your people that fill you up and bring you energy and she would be top of my list. She was one of my biggest supporters and shed sing my praises to anyone she met, she'd recommend me without hesitation and I know this journey into full time business would feel so much lighter were she still here.

I already felt emotional and she was on my mind having had a wonderful day out yesterday with her Husband and son with my son (they've been friends since nursery - it's how we met). Adding to this is possibly my official last day of employment today, the upcoming full moon, and potentially my period coming but being perimenopause I have no clue where I am in my cycle - this is where tbe moon cycle comes in handy!

Anyway my message is if this is you sometimes, a wave from no where, hold yourself with compassion the way you would hold others. Reach out to others, to me, I'd be happy to chat. Im sat right now having a timeout eating a nice lunch ive prepared myself in the sun in the garden. And I am reminding myself of all the things I am truly grateful for. Practing my own guidance, grounding, compassion, healing, gratitude.

Much love to you.

All geared up for a swim while the boy was at gymnastics - then he decides he has a headache and cant go. Would've been so easy to not go but I had my cossie on and off i went. Swi.ming pool to myself for 15 minutes then sauna, cold plunge, sauna!

It just takes one little action, then another to get you there!

I was staring at a corner of the garden and started formulating a plan....

With this gorgeous weather the outdoors is calling me but I need to be super careful with the Sun while on my treatment. I thought about how peaceful it is listening to the birds and how wonderful it would be to have treatments outside.

So here it is - a little space under canvas for Indian head massage (includes back, shoulders and face or adaptable to your preference), reiki and facials. Probably best early mornings or evenings with the weather as is. Seated, on the sun lounger or massage bed. My garden awaits you πŸ’š

A sunny bank holiday weekend at last! We're not away for this half term holiday so it's lovely getting out and enjoying the local area. The Sun, the flowers, the trees, time with friends and family - all helping with a nice reset as I transition from corporate working life.

A lovely walk followed by drink with the hubby at a local brewery where we could hear the music from Neighbourhood Weekender as an added bonus!

How are you taking some time out to reset this Bank Holiday? Even if its a short walk, some time in the sun with a book or maybe you're off on a much needed holiday! I hope you are finding ways to take time out and relax 🌞

Something magical happened on Friday evening πŸ’«

Friday 13th May the Dark Moon before the Ta**us New Moon. A final time for release and cleansing πŸŒ‘

A group of women gathered together around the fire coming together in community and sharing our stories - brought together by Andrea Pickford creating such a beautiful space. I always know whatever Andrea delivers its going to be amazing and it truly was! 🫢

I wrote and spoke of releasing the structures that had held me for so long, feeling all the emotion of the highs and lows of the last almost 17 years in my job, closing the door and stepping into the next chapter.

As I offered the paper with my words up to the flames, the structures of the fire collapsed. The stacked up wood just toppling in upon itself as if to acknowledge the release but also showing that the flames still thrived. And as our words and rose petals were offered up to the flames, they grew stronger πŸ”₯

I felt lighter and a physical and mental sense of release and relief.

🌿 We then connected with the land, with nature and just spent time soaking up that nourishment. Ending the evening with a beautiful song we were gently encouraged to sing together. Thankyou to Andrea for holding such beautiful space, to Amy for hosting us on her beautiful land and to the ladies who gathered and welcomed me πŸ™

Now the release has happened it clears the way for the New Moon intentions. I've been making an extra effort to listen to my inner voice and it's been calling for rest and building slowly. I am so looking forward to fully devoting myself to building community, creating spaces for healing and growth - for when we rise together we are so much stronger.

I'd love to hear your stories and what new intentions are emerging for you. If you prefer to keep it private, drop me a message, i'd be delighted to hear from you. And if you'd like to hear about what's coming up drop me your email and/or number for musings and updates.

Have a beautiful Sunday πŸ’š

Well that's my last working day done for me in the Civil Service after almost 17 years. I've had some lovely messages and things said today and i close my laptop with a warm heart.

What a ride it has been, it really doesn't feel that long and what a privilege it has been to be part of such a variety of projects and being able to make a difference. From visiting leading edge research & design projects and walking around huge factories to see the technology or equipment they'd been able to install through the funding provided, to heading up appraisal teams looking at European funded investment across the North West at MHCLG. Next heading to Department for International Trade now Department for Business and Trade to set up and head a multi-million pound programme supporting small businesses to export, building a team and setting up just as covid hit and simultaneously home-schooling (fun times!). To my last position heading up the Directorate support function for DBT's Grants Delivery Directorate being part of building the team and the infrastructure to support the Department's delivery of funding. It's definitely had it's challenges, the stresses that have taken a toll on my health but i've been lucky to have overcome strained relationships and environments and to have dedicated, hard-working teams and colleagues who care - that makes a huge difference. The work my colleagues do is so hugely impactful and their dedication and passion for what they do is second to none. For me over the last couple of years or so i've not felt fully in alignment with what i've been doing, not because its not important just that my interests and sense of purpose has shifted but I am super proud of what I have acheived and been part of and the teams I have worked with.

It's during the latter years of working in leadership and being part of the Crossing Thresholds programme as a Coach and Mentor, that I ignited my passion for developing and empowering others, supporting people to acheive their individual goals or our goals as a team will never cease to light me up. I became hyper focussed on the wellbeing of myself and my team to manage stress and I always strove to meet the balance of delivering and maintaining wellness (with some bumps aling the way!). This led me down the path of my trainings in holistic therapies, routines, rituals and products that support better health and wellbeing. It's what has led to the formation of my business,Truly Rooted Wellbeing, where I bring coaching, self-care and holistics under one roof, where I can support those who are trying to strike that balance and connect with sense of self and purpose, juggling the demands of busy work and/or family life and getting a bit lost somewhere along the way.

I am immensely grateful for the opportunities I've had during my career and for the chance now to take a leap into moving my business forward. I wouldn't have had the courage had it not been for the voluntary exit opportunity (or it would at least have happened in slower time on a part time basis) and it has furnished me with the lived experience and leadership and coaching skills to take into my business. I am feeling a little mournful about what I leave behind but with a heart full of gratitude and excitement for what unfolds.

Countdown!! 4 working days left! Exciting times as one door closes another will open. I have been quiet this last week, just not a lot of headspace right now, and I've been investing my time in some additional self-development. All will be revealed soon!

1st of May! Beltane and Full Moon in Scorpio. I'm certainly feeling in to the Beltane energies of creativity, birth and renewal as I get closer and closer to the time I can fully focus on my passion, my business. I will be reflecting on what I want to come to fruition and what is getting in the way - whether that be tangible or other things like mindset - the Scorpio full moon will help shine a spotlight on this. There's already some further expansion and deeping into my offer I'm slowly nurturing that I'm super excited about but I'm keeping them quite protected for now!

Last night I lit candles, including one of my candles, branded with my logo, to represent the fire of Beltane, celebrating the light, welcoming new beginnings and all the blessings that may bring, the fire helping cleanse and release what no longer serves. This morning I walked on the grass feeling the dew on my feet and scooping it up to feel the freshness on my face. Bathing in all the possibilities a fertile earth has to offer.

How are you now harnessing these energies as the Sun starts to warm us up?
