🍃Grief is often associated with the loss of a loved one, but it can also arise after the end of a relationship, changes in health, loss of identity, career transitions, or major life changes. Many people are familiar with the five stages of grief — denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance — first introduced by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. These stages are not a checklist or a straight path. People may move back and forth between emotions, experience several stages at once, or not relate to some stages at all. Grief is deeply personal, and every experience is unique.

What is important to understand is that many people do not even realize they are grieving. Grief can show up as irritability, exhaustion, anxiety, numbness, difficulty concentrating, withdrawing from others, or feeling “stuck.” Sometimes people believe they should simply “move on,” especially when the loss is less visible or socially recognized. Becoming aware that these feelings may be connected to grief can be an important step toward healing. There is no “right” way to grieve, and there is no timeline that someone must follow. Giving yourself compassion, space, and support during difficult transitions is not weakness — it is part of being human.🍃
