Filler vs HIFU for a heavy lower face, which treatment is more appropriate?

A heavy lower face or softer jawline doesn’t always mean you need filler.
In some cases, lower-face changes are being driven by volume loss and reduced structural support. In others, the main issue is mild skin laxity, tissue descent or loss of firmness.

That distinction matters.

Dermal filler may be useful when restoring support or replacing lost volume will improve facial balance. HIFU may be more appropriate when the concern is primarily laxity and reduced firmness.

HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target deeper tissue layers, including the SMAS layer, which is also addressed during surgical facelift procedures. The aim is to stimulate collagen remodelling and improve firmness and definition over time, without adding volume.

At SkinGenius, we assess facial structure, volume loss, skin quality and tissue laxity before recommending treatment.

Sometimes filler is appropriate. Sometimes HIFU is. Sometimes a combination approach may be considered.

The important part is understanding what is actually causing the lower-face change first.
