Starting solids is an exciting milestone for your baby. Here are five key things to remember when beginning your weaning journey:

✅ Start when your baby is around 6 months old and showing signs they are ready for solid foods
✅ Begin with simple foods and gradually introduce a variety of tastes and textures
✅ Offer a range of foods, including vegetables, fruit, starchy foods and protein-rich foods
✅ Let your baby explore food at their own pace - it can take several tries before they accept a new food
✅ Continue breast milk or first infant formula alongside solid foods during the first year

If your child struggles with hay fever, a few simple steps at home can help reduce symptoms and keep them comfortable during high pollen days:

✅ Keep windows and doors closed where possible
✅ Shower and change clothes after outdoor play
✅ Vacuum regularly and dust with a damp cloth
✅ Avoid drying clothes outside when pollen counts are high
✅ Encourage children to wear sunglasses outdoors to protect their eyes

Common hay fever symptoms include sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, itchy eyes, coughing and tiredness.

If symptoms are affecting your child's daily life, speak to your local pharmacist or GP for advice.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, and this year’s theme is Action - because small, meaningful actions can have a huge positive impact on mental health over time 💚

Supporting your child’s mental wellbeing doesn’t have to mean big changes. Simple , intentional everyday moments can help children feel safe, connected, and listened to.

You could try:

- Checking in with your child and asking how they’re feeling
- Spending 10 minutes together reading or playing
- Going for a walk or getting outside together
- Encouraging creative play and self-expression
- Making time for your own wellbeing as a parent/carer too

The Mental Health Foundation has a variety of helpful ideas and resources on taking action for your mental health, supporting others, and building healthy habits as a family: https://bit.ly/3RxMOln

Did you know, children may need to try a new food more than 10 times before accepting it? 🥕

That’s why patience, repetition, and pressure-free mealtimes can make a big difference.

If your little one is finding mealtimes challenging, you could try:
• Keeping mealtimes relaxed
• Offering new foods alongside favourites
• Serving fun finger foods and colourful snacks
• Praising trying foods, not finishing them
