Hi Are you ready to PURPLE-ISE?

September is here… and on Thursday 10 September, World Su***de Prevention Day, we’re coming together to stand in support of su***de prevention.
But before we get there, we want to ask you: What does support look like for you?

Is it checking in on someone? Listening without judgement?
Sitting with someone through a difficult day? Starting a conversation?
Simply letting someone know, β€œI’m here.”

Because sometimes, support doesn’t have to be complicated. It starts with connection.

This September, we’re asking you to Purple-ise your workplace, your community, your school, your home, or simply yourself; and help us make su***de prevention visible.
Getting involved is simple:
πŸ’œ Wear it: find your purple and get ready for 10 September
πŸ’œ Share it: share this poster and invite someone to join you
πŸ’œ Talk about it: start a conversation about su***de prevention
πŸ’œ Fund it: raise funds or donate to help SOS continue its vital work

And if you’re feeling creative, take part in our 10-Day Purple-ise Challenge and do one purple thing every day from 1–10 September. On 10 September, let's show what happens when one colour, one cause and one community come together.

What will you do to Purple-ise? πŸ’œ

Tell us in the comments. πŸ‘‡Tag someone you'd love to Purple-ise with.

With the ongoing - this is just a quick reminder to everyone to take care, be mindful, and please seek help when things get overwhelming

The heat wave is back, so here's a quick reminder: periods of extreme heat can have an adverse effect on mental wellbeing too. β˜€οΈπŸ’œ

Hot weather can leave us feeling more tired, irritable, anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally drained; especially if we're managing mental health, chronic conditions or taking medication.
So please take the time to look after yourself today:

πŸ’§ Stay hydrated
🏠 Keep cool and avoid peak heat where possible
πŸ‰ Choose light, cooling foods
🧘 Take things at a slower pace
😴 Rest when your body needs it
πŸ“± Check in on someone who may be struggling

How are you coping with the heat?
πŸ’œ Leave a heart if this resonates.
πŸ”„ Share with someone who could use the reminder today.

If things are feeling overwhelming, our Freephone helpline (0808 115 1505) is here to listen.

What would change if we showed ourselves and others a little more compassion?

Forgiveness is often thought of as something we offer other people. But for many, the harder challenge is letting go of self-blame, harsh self-talk and the pressure to keep carrying everything alone.

πŸ’œFor individuals and families, forgiveness can mean releasing resentment, reducing stress, and challenging the negative self-talk that can fuel anxiety, burnout and feelings of hopelessness.

πŸ’œFor workplaces and communities, it can mean creating cultures where people feel safe to be human; where empathy, understanding and open conversations help reduce conflict and build trust.

At SOS, we know that su***de prevention is not only about responding to crisis; it’s also about building cultures where understanding, connection, and compassion are part of everyday life.
Whether it’s a conversation with a colleague, a check-in with a friend, or showing yourself the same kindness you would offer someone else, small moments of compassion can have a powerful impact on mental wellbeing.

πŸ’ Tell us in the comments: what does forgiveness, of yourself or others, mean to you?

If your organisation is looking to champion mental wellbeing, awareness, and community impact, consider partnering with SOS as your Charity of the Year and help us create more conversations that save lives.

πŸ’œ A huge round of applause for Natasha who completed the Regent's Park 5K in an incredible 55 minutes, raising enough to support around 90 minutes of life-saving conversations on the SOS Freephone helpline. πŸ’œ

But this run was about so much more than crossing a finish line.
Having experienced her own struggles, Natasha knows just how painful, isolating and overwhelming those moments can be. That's why she chose to turn her experience into hope for others. She also reminds us of something so important:

"Discussing su***de is incredibly difficult, but it is necessary. Open conversations are the first step towards breaking down the stigma and making sure no one feels alone."
For anyone wanting to donate, Natasha's fundraiser is still live on: https://www.justgiving.com/page/natasha-r-for-sos

Thank you, Natasha, for your courage, your honesty, and your determination to help others find the support they deserve. You are helping us ensure that more people are heard, supported, and reminded that they are never alone. πŸ’œ

Inspired by Natasha's story? You don't need to run a race to make a difference; whether it's a walk, bake sale, coffee morning or community event, every fundraiser helps create more life-saving conversations.
