We’re looking for a Residential Deputy Manager to join our team at Thorpedale, supporting adults with learning disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives while working alongside our experienced Project Manager to lead and develop a
dedicated team.

Hertfordshire County Council is developing plans to improve the walking, wheeling and cycling experience along Lower High Street in Watford.

When complete the project will be a better connection between the Watford Green Loop and Watford High Street station, onwards to Watford Town Centre.

The planned works include:
• Widening the walking and cycling path along Lower High Street
• Installing a continuous footway at the junction with Local Board Road
• Installing a crossing near the junction with Watford Field Road
• Modifying the existing toucan crossing over Lower High Street
• Installing new planting and seating
• Improving road surfacing and route signage
• Upgrading street lighting near Watford Field Road

This work could start early 2027

Drop-in event - To answer any questions on the project and talk through our plans in more detail, there will be a drop in event on Thursday 10 September from 3pm to 7pm at The Wellspring Church Centre, 1 Wellspring Way, Watford, WD17 2AH.

Please feel free to turn up at any time during the drop in event.

Along with other Herts charities, we’ll be setting off on a 13 mile walk through Chipperfield, Bovingdon and Hemel Hempstead on 26th September.

Are you a creative communications professional who wants your work to make a real difference?

We're looking for a Communications and Marketing Officer to help tell the stories that matter, grow awareness of learning disabilities, and raise the profile of Watford Mencap across our community.

This is a part-time role (up to 20 hours per week) based at our Watford Hub, with hybrid working available. You'll be creating engaging content, managing social media, developing marketing campaigns, and helping more people discover the opportunities and support we provide.

If you're an experienced communicator with a passion for the charity sector and want to use your skills to create positive change, we'd love to hear from you.

You will join our Fundraising team at Head Office where we support adults with learning disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives.
