Find your balance. About Siobhan and PresentMind Wellness Pathways

I understand what it's like to navigate the relentless pressures of a demanding professional life, compounded by the unique challenges that come with being a woman in your 30s, 40s, 50s, or 60s. The juggling act of career, family (including raising my daughter), and personal well-being can often leave you feeling exhausted, overwh

elmed, and disconnected from your inner calm. My own journey led me through years in the corporate world, facing high-stress roles, including my time at Shell Trading. There, I was responsible for managing global supply routes – a truly 24/7, demanding operation. It was whilst working at Shell Trading that I was also pursuing my Postgraduate in Maritime Operations at City University. In 2004, a diagnosis of Sjögren's Syndrome brought new complexities, and navigating perimenopause and menopause in my early 40s added significant challenges. These combined experiences, which led to burnout at Shell Trading, became a pivotal point. It was during this intensely challenging period that I discovered the profound, life-changing power of mindfulness. Even more recently, last year, diagnoses of osteoporosis in my spine and osteoarthritis in my hands, knees, and feet brought further personal understanding of managing chronic physical conditions. Through it all, mindfulness hasn't just been a technique; it's been a vital pathway to reclaiming my peace, managing anxiety, navigating physical discomfort with greater ease, and finding a quiet strength I didn't know I had. This personal transformation ignited a deep passion within me to share these invaluable tools. I even returned to Shell Trading post-burnout and was promoted, a testament to mindfulness's profound impact on my resilience and performance. Committed to sharing this transformative power, I formally qualified as a Breathworks Mindfulness Teacher in 2016, deepening my understanding and ability to guide others. My dedication to holistic well-being expanded when I qualified as a Dru Yoga teacher in 2019, enriching my approach to mind-body connection. Further solidifying my commitment to effective teaching, I was awarded a Level 3 Award in Education and Training in 2021. My background is rooted in robust professional training, holding a BA in International Management from Middlesex University (2001). This diverse foundation allows me to understand the unique demands of professional life and translate complex concepts into practical, relatable strategies. At PresentMind Wellness Pathways, my mission is to provide practical, accessible, and compassionate guidance. I draw not only on proven mindfulness and wellbeing techniques but also on my real-world understanding of the challenges you face, offering tailored strategies that fit seamlessly into your busy life. My courses are designed to help you move from overwhelm to a place of inner clarity, from constant worry to genuine peace, and from exhaustion to renewed energy. It's about empowering you with a 'can-do' attitude, focusing on what's truly possible when you nurture your mind and spirit. I believe that every woman deserves to find her calm within. Join me on this journey to less anxiety and more inner peace. Small pleasures on a grey day.

The sky is grey, I'm feeling grey ... But the unexpected joy of finding an empty carriage. No squishing, no apologising, no breathing too loudly, no thoughts on "Am I unusually friendly or weird if I chat to my fellow passengers..." And I usually do!

Small blessings pierce the clouds.

🧵 Stitch & Ditch the Throwaway Culture! 🎒

Last Saturday I rocked up to the Repair Café at St Mary's Church, Watford with a backpack held together by hope and a pair of jeans that had given up on their seams. I left with both fixed — for *free* — by a group of genuinely brilliant people who just love making broken things whole again.

They sorted my backpack straps like pros and came up with a clever solution for my jeans that I honestly wouldn't have thought of myself. No landfill. No replacement cost. Just skill, community, and a very welcome cup of tea.

These unsung heroes meet every second Saturday of the month at St Mary's Church, Watford and they can tackle clothes, electricals, furniture, bikes and more.

👉 Go if you've got something broken sitting in a corner judging you.
👉 Volunteer if you've got a skill and a couple of Saturdays to spare - they'd love you for it.

Because the most sustainable item is the one you already own. 💚

The city doesn't stop. But you can...

St Paul's at dusk. There's something about descending — slowly, quietly — while London carries on around you. St Paul's has stood through centuries of noise. It doesn't rush. Neither do you have to.

What's one thing you can let yourself come down from today?

There's a word I love that most people haven't heard: thin places.

It comes from Celtic spirituality — those moments, spaces, edges, where the distance between the surface of life and something deeper... collapses.

You might know them more as liminal spaces. The in-between. The pause. The threshold before the next thing begins.

And here's what I've noticed: they're uncomfortable. Not because they're dangerous — but because in the quiet, there's nowhere to hide from yourself.
The noise we reach for — the scroll, the podcast, the to-do list at 6am — it isn't laziness. It's protection. From the stillness that asks who are you, really, when there's nothing to perform?

But what if we could be brave enough to just... stay there? Even for an hour.
Not fixing. Not filling. Just existing.

I won't pretend this is easy for me. It isn't. But I'm learning that the discomfort of being with myself is far less costly than the exhaustion of constantly running from it.

Try it tomorrow morning. Before the phone. Before the noise. One hour.
Just you. The thin place. And whatever you find there.

Coming back from a fallow season means re-emerging with intention. 🌱

After taking time to tend to the quieter, less visible things, I’m really pleased to share that my spring is beginning with a meaningful new step. I’ll be co-leading and supporting a Kintsugi Hope course.

The philosophy of kintsugi — repairing broken pottery with gold — is a powerful metaphor for our own lives. It isn’t about hiding our scars or pretending winter didn’t happen. It’s about acknowledging the cracks and discovering that healing can hold its own kind of beauty.

This course feels deeply aligned with the work I care about, and I’m honoured to be part of it.

The details:

🌿 A friendly, safe 12-session group focused on maintaining positive mental health and wellbeing
🌿 Topics include anxiety, depression, shame, disappointment and loss

📅 Starts: Friday 17 April
⏰ Time: 1:30 – 2:30 pm
📍 Location: St James Road Baptist Church Hall, WD18 0DZ
💛 Cost: Free

If you’d like to join, please contact Ruth Roberts using the details on the poster if you wish to register or have questions.

Sometimes healing begins simply by not having to carry things alone.

I've been away since December. 🌿

Growing up in Ireland, we understood fallow seasons.

The land that rests is the land that gives again.

I've been quiet on here — not lost, not gone — just in a fallow season of my own. Tending to things that needed my full attention. Doing the quieter, less visible work of getting through a difficult period with as much steadiness as I could manage.

This image has sat with me for years. I took it in a yoga studio a long time ago, and every time I look at it I feel something settle. It felt like the right way to come back.

Yoga, mindfulness, wellbeing — none of it makes hard times disappear. But it does help you stop fighting the winter. To trust that spring has its own timing.

This is my spring. 🌱

I'm coming back slowly, with courses and sessions taking shape that I'll share in the coming weeks.

If you've been in your own fallow season lately, know that the stillness is doing something. It usually is.
