This week is Men's Mental Health Week and we want to reshare a small film which we made last year with men across the county who have lived experience of extremely poor mental health, to the point of considering taking their own lives.

In Northamptonshire, approximately 75 people take their own life each year. Source: ONS (2022-2024)​ Around 75% of these suicides are by males (comparable to national figures).

Well what a busy May, our busiest month since we entered into our second year of our contract as Healthwatch North Northamptonshire. Two enter and view visits, at Thrackley Green Specialist Care Centre and Corby Urgent Care Centres, more Public Health North Northamptonshire funded community events to promote Community Health Checks to our Black Communities, and supporting our colleagues in the Discrimination and Health Project. None of this could happen without the dedication of our amazing Champion of Change Volunteers, as we enter Volunteers week next week, we want to send them a big Thank You

We are looking for an organised, proactive, and community-focused individual to join our team as a Healthwatch Research Support and Community Events Co-ordinator. This role plays a central part in supporting the smooth delivery of community engagement events and research projects across North Northamptonshire. You will work closely with the Healthwatch Service Manager and Engagement/Research team to help coordinate activities, support volunteers, and ensure public feedback is transformed into accessible, high-quality reports that help shape local services. This is a varied and rewarding role ideal for someone who enjoys organisation, communication, event coordination, community engagement, and making a positive difference.

It was a real privilege for Healthwatch North Northamptonshire to attend the joint North Northamptonshire Council and Northamptonshire Council Joint Health and Wellbeing Board Workshop on Neighbourhood Health today. One of the big questions was how do we make sure our communities voices are listened to when making big transformation decision.
