After noticing swelling in one leg in 2013, Maria's life changed dramatically.

Maria was diagnosed with primary lymphoedema while living in Spain, after doctors struggled to understand what was causing her leg swelling. At the time, awareness of lymphoedema was limited and treatment options were extremely restricted.

Maria has shared her story to help raise awareness and share the message that although lymphoedema currently has no cure, treatment and self-management can still make a life-changing difference. 💜

Last week was . We've been reflecting on the key takeaways from communicating with patients, communities and even those at Patient Choice.

We've learned the power of small conversations and the importance of feeling heard, supported and understood. 💙

Whether it’s opening up about how you’re feeling, checking in on someone else, or recognising the emotional impact of living with a chronic condition, every conversation matters.

Living with conditions like lymphoedema or lipoedema can affect more than physical health. It can impact confidence, daily routines, anxiety and mental wellbeing too.

Our key takeaway? Don’t stay silent. You are enough, bad days are okay, and support is always worth reaching for.

Let’s keep listening, acknowledging and supporting each other, this week and every week.

Let's recognise our pets!🐶🐱

It's Mental Health Awareness Week, and we all know our pets are so important to us and can help improve our moods on our worst days. When living with a chronic condition, having a pet can provide that bit of love and comfort that is crucial in life🥰

📸We'd love you to share your pets with us! Drop a picture in the comments🐾

We'll start. This is Lola, Patient Choice's very own therapy dog. Lola is PAT registered but not actively volunteering. That doesn't stop her from supporting us all when needed. With her help, we can ease our minds on a busy day and better support patients because of it. Thank you, Lola!

For Mental Health Awareness Week, we spoke to Sam, Patient Choice’s Mental Health Champion, about why talking openly about mental health matters.

Sam shared that having someone to listen can make a huge difference, helping people feel heard, supported and reassured that their feelings are valid. Her message to everyone this week is simple: don’t stay silent, talk to someone.

A few reminders from Sam:
You are enough. It’s okay to have bad days. Be kinder to yourself. Tomorrow is a new day.
