Honest share: since opening my beautiful studio- my personal practice of yoga has taken a back seat more times than I care to really admit. And there are times I show up without a clue as to what I’m about to teach. (Tbf sometimes these are the best classes 🤣) but it does make me a little sad to admit it.

I have no regrets about opening the space. Being there brings me so much joy and the community that’s growing is just epic.

But- it is a business, with overheads and I have bills of my own to pay, so at some point cramming so many classes in a week was about survival.

I have passed a few classes over and share the space with some wonderful teachers and practitioners which means I can go back to doing what I love most which is my own practice, and in turn deliver some beautiful classes to you. Because I will be consistently walking the walk also.

So- you may notice a notebook now by my side and me taking a glance over and perhaps even reading what I’ve written. Those of you who remember my classes at the beginning may recall the notebook then before the busyness of running a business took over.

Once again a lot of waffle.

But what I want to say is thank you to those who continue to show up. My clients and to the practitioners who have stuck by me along the way while I figure all of this out- your loyalty and patience doesn’t go unnoticed. I never really wanted to own a business. I only wanted to do what I love.

September- let’s go. I would have done this last week but I was immersed in being a student for a whole week- And it was absolutely wonderful. So I shall be doing more of that this autumn/winter. More of that later. This is the time table for September - there’s slight adjustment to some of my classes w/c 14th as I’m working a retreat last minute but then I’m locked in with you until the c word (you decide which one 😁) October sees MORE CLASSES yay! And something some of you have been asking for will appear very soon 😎 there will also be a sound bath and/or extended practice with sound AND Wellbeing Wednesday on the last weds of every month. More on that too. See you on the mat. Nat x

There’s lots to say about this past week. But for now- simply: thank you to Emma Peel Yoga for being awesome and such a wealth of knowledge and inspiration. And to the other ‘Bowden babes’ who shared this week with me. Can’t wait to bring it out into the wild. But for now - some rest 😅 see you in class soon 🫶

HOW TO EMBODY YOUR PRACTICE
(I’m not shouting at you - I just want to get your attention 😁)
What if I said that yoga wasn’t about getting your body into the posture, but using the posture to arrive in your body?
Yoga asana (the postures or shapes) gives us means to arrive.
A stretch, a physical point of resistance if you like. Or a wobble - I know you just love a balance.
Perhaps a place where something feels strong, unfamiliar, uncomfortable or absolutely divine 🤤
But then, rather than immediately adjusting it, fixing it, deepening it or moving on…What happens if you stay?
Long enough to actually feel the physical sensation, where it begins then-changes. Where you resist it and how you can soften.
And- what do you do when it becomes uncomfortable?
When given enough time eventually sensation changes or passes.
And what’s left? 😎 yes babe- your mind!
The thoughts that appear while you’re still, stories you told yourself about whether you could do it. The overwhelming urge to escape - (mostly)
Or judgement? How critical are you of yourself or the poor innocent teacher making you do it 🤣
Or boredom that’s a big one… and impatience.
Silence maybe?
This is where I think asana becomes really interesting and such a teacher.
The physical practice gives us something tangible to explore, but the longer we stay, the more we begin to notice that we’re not just studying the body but studying ourselves.
And it isn’t by sitting perfectly still and trying to empty the mind that’s not really the goal- but we give the mind somewhere to reveal itself.
There are many ways into a posture.
Our practice isn’t about finding the perfect shape - what’s perfect anyway? The gift is being curious enough to find out what the shape has to teach you about what’s inside the shape.
That’s yoga baby 🤩 wanna explore? Come to class. I got you 🫶

‘What do you mean I don’t have to do it the same way as the person next to me?’ That is right 😎 Break these invisible rules.
I wonder what would happen if you stopped trying to make your body fit the shape and started exploring the shape that lets your body feel what it needs to feel?
There isn’t one correct way to experience a stretch, a sensation, a posture or a movement. You can change the angle, bend the knee, move the pelvis, prop yourself up, turn yourself sideways, or take it up the bloody wall babe.
What if I said that you have full body autonomy and you get to explore 😱😳
Having a lovely (and emotional) time with Emma Peel Yoga discussing the many many ways we can shape our beautiful individual bodies. There’s no prizes to be won if your shaft is longer than mine (Ffnarf) and allows you more space to move. No gold star. We’re simply here to notice, to experiment, to find sensation, and to discover that there are many different routes to the same place.
Feel what you need to feel.
Find your way there.
That’s yoga baby 🌀

Having spent 3 days now practicing for approx 3-4 hrs per day (with another 3 to go) I can confirm that less is not more. In fact as much as you can is definitely where the magic happens.
No- I’m not saying we should all be doing 4 hours of yoga per day- who has actual time for that? Plus - I’m also now very tired and sore. But also- I do recommend a long practice whenever you can. So if you would like to join me for a regular 90 minute (I mean we could go for 2 hrs if you wanted to) I’m going to hold one a month (and also add this to my list of on line shizz) but what I need from you is WHEN DO YOU WANT IT? When is a good time for you to journey inwards and meet yourself? That is the question.
I’ll offer up a few options- but please let me know. Over on the gram Sunday morning once a month seems to be most popular- but what about over here on the facebooks?
Talk to me 😎
Comment
🍺 for Friday evening
🍔for sat evening
Or
☕️for Sunday morning

I cannot wait for this- and don’t worry if you don’t come I’ll be practicing anyway 🤣❤️

A very lovely friend gifted me a book recently. And it’s been a long time since I’ve been hooked into something on such a deep level. I think so much of the time we pour into other people, things external to ourselves we lose a sense of what it is we are here to do. Which is to live a human experience. In what ever way that makes sense to you. Yes there is a sense of service and responsibility, of course. But at what point do we take a step back and acknowledge that we are important? We get one chance at this existence - what the f**k are we doing worrying, pleasing and letting all the noise get in the way of our experience?
Despite everything I’ve learned and processed in my life to this point - I still miss the point. So this is a reminder- if you’re getting caught up in bu****it and other peoples opinions and drama, you can step away. You first. It’s not selfish, at all 🧡🍁

Since opening up the studio & rooms my time and attention has totally been taken up by this. And I’m not moaning, I absolutely love both spaces, and am incredibly proud of what’s being built.
But- also it’s taken me away at times from the one thing that keeps me grounded.
Only for a small moments but it’s long enough for things to start to spiral.

I’m a Scorpio- and that may not mean anything to you, but if you know you know. And there are many positives about this sign which I love about us, however the shadow side of a Scorpio is a lil cray cray at times.
We feel things soooo intensely and we can also be incredibly spikey- understatement much?!
Anyway- having spent at least 20 years trying to tame that spikey beast that lives within I can tell you that yoga has helped a lot. And the only time it stops working is when I stop practicing.

What a lot of waffle.

Anyway what I’m trying to say is all in the slides below.

I teach how I practice, I find it really helpful, come practice with me, the end 🫶

I’m wondering if there is any kind soul who may be able to help with a few odd jobs at the studio.
I have a pretty small budget - but would happily pay some in gift vouchers for treatments, sauna or classes which can be gifted to family or friends maybe for a birthday or dare I say it - bank it for December 😳
I need an electrician and someone who can help with laying flooring.
I think a couple of days work 🤞🙏
Let me know if you know of anyone who may be interested in maybe a weekends work.

Ever hopeful in the power of community & exchange ✨
