🏇🏼ROR Talk on Veterinary Physiotherapy🏇🏼

It was an absolute pleasure to provide a talk for RoR RoR South Westtheir summer camp this year!

I spoke on the topic of Veterinary Physiotherapy and its benefits for the ex-racehorse; it was so lovely to meet all of the wonderful members and hear their amazing stories about their incredible horses.

🐱Meet Newt!🐱

This is Newt, he’s an elderly cat that absolutely loves my Pulse Mag (PEMFT)! He’s super affectionate and spent a lot of time just giving me nuzzles (as seen in picture 2). He’s such a pleasure to work with!

Elderly animals really benefit from maintenance sessions to ease the aches and pains that come with old age. If you have an older pet that you want to get checked over, please get in touch to book an appointment.

What are kissing spines?
Did you know that between 39-80% of horses have them!?

Overriding spinous processes, also called “kissing spines” occur when two or more boney projections at the top of the vertebrae touch or overlap. Different studies suggest different percentages of the equine population having them.

But, having them isn’t necessarily significant as many have them without clinical signs (according to certain research papers).
There are other contributing and confounding factors that lead to them being significant!

Join Dr Martina Neidhart and myself in an upcoming webinar where we will dive into the world of the causes of kissing spine.

Does your animal need Veterinary Physiotherapy?

Sometimes we don’t realise that our pets are in any sort of discomfort or pain. Our pets often don’t show obvious signs or symptoms due to their natural instincts; for example, when your dog is running around and wagging their tail it is easy to miss the signs that they aren’t feeling 100%. Dogs often won’t show that they are in pain until it gets to the level where they are non-weight baring. This is because if they were wild, their pack would most likely leave them behind.

This also applies to horses; Horses are prey animals which means they are hardwired to not show signs of weakness as this would signal to a predator that they are easier to kill. This makes it a lot harder to know if your horse is actually experiencing pain on a daily basis.

This is why it is recommended that you get your animal checked by a neuromusculoskeletal professional who is trained to recognise the signs and symptoms of chronic and acute pain.

If you would like to book your animal in for a check up please don’t hesitate to get in contact.

🎄Merry Christmas from HJVP!🎄

Thank you to all of my clients and lovely patients who have made my first year of business absolutely incredible! It’s been the best first year I could have wished for; there have been highs and lows but I’m excited for 2025 and all of the things that will come with it.

I would also love to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas from HJVP and a Happy New Year; including one of my patients, Kieser Chief who is sporting his fetching festive tie🐶🎅🏻

HJVP is now closed for Christmas and will be re-opening on the 2nd of January.

⭐️Proud Vet Physio moment!⭐️

I’m so proud of my little patient, Aurora, and her owner for how much they have achieved!
Aurora has gone from having difficulty walking, due to subluxating patella syndrome, to being placed third in the Hounds Category and Best Puppy at her first show! This has allowed her to qualify to go to the championships!
This little dog has come on leaps and bounds with her physio sessions and the hard work and dedication of her owner. I can’t wait to see what they achieve next!
