❄️🏊♀️ There’s nothing quite like a cold water swim on a crisp morning!
One of our physios, Kerris, has fully embraced cold water swimming over the last few years. From braving an unheated outdoor pool in the depths of winter (with temperatures as low as 8°C!) to enjoying open water lake swims in the summer, she’s experienced first-hand the benefits that keep so many people coming back for more.
“The challenge of getting in is immense, but the feeling afterwards is incredible.”
Cold water swimming has grown hugely in popularity, and research continues to highlight a range of potential physical and mental health benefits, including:
✅ Improved circulation as the body adapts to cold temperatures
✅ Release of endorphins, helping to boost mood and reduce stress
✅ Reduced inflammation and muscle soreness
✅ Increased mental resilience and tolerance to discomfort
✅ Support for a healthy immune system
✅ A lasting feeling of energy, refreshment and achievement
Whether it’s the calm of an outdoor pool or the freedom of open water, cold water swimming can be a powerful way to support both physical and mental wellbeing.
