You can understand someone’s pain without becoming the place they put it.
That’s the bit people pleasers often struggle with.
Empathy says:
I can see why you feel that way.
A boundary says:
But that doesn’t make it okay to treat me that way.
You don’t have to stop caring.
You don’t have to become cold.
And you definitely don’t have to explain yourself into exhaustion.
You can have compassion and standards.
You can understand and say no.
You can love someone and choose yourself.
That isn’t selfish.
That’s growth. 💙
