May 12 marks International Nurses Day, recognising the vital role nurses play in healthcare systems worldwide. It's celebrated on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is recognised as the pioneer of modern nursing. It's an opportunity for us to thank our practice nurses and recognise the vital role they play in caring for our patients. Thank you! 💙

🎉Happy International Nurses Day 2026.💙🩺
Today, May 12th, we join the global community in celebrating International Nurses Day. To all the nurses in our PCN and beyond - thank you for your care, kindness and dedication every day. 🙏

While we love our GPs, the truth is that Nurses are the heart of the team. From managing chronic conditions to providing complex clinical care and empathetic support, our nurses often play the most significant role in a patient's day-to-day recovery and long-term health.

Join us in saying a massive thank you to the incredible nurses across our globe ✨

We know that talking about difficult personal matters like finances or family can be uncomfortable. Sometimes, reporting concerns feels complicated or too formal.

We want you to know that your GP surgery is different. It’s a familiar, safe place where you are accustomed to discussing sensitive things with people you already trust.

If you feel that someone—even a family member or caregiver—is taking your money without permission, pressuring you about your will, or controlling your finances, please talk to us.

Tell your doctor, nurse, or a member of our practice team. We are here to listen and help connect you with discreet support in a way that feels safe for you.

You don’t have to go through this alone.

We are so pleased to see Healthwatch Dorset sharing the word about !

This platform was designed specifically for our East Dorset community to help everyone find the local services, support, and activities they need to stay active and connected.

While our Social Prescribers use it every day to help patients, you don't need a referral to use it. You can take the lead in your own wellbeing journey right now by exploring the resources yourself!

Check it out here: www.communityswitch.org 💻✨

To help improve the patient experience, our Engagement Officer, Lucy met with Jayne Walton who manages Community Switch. This is a programme of self-help and signposting services reviewed by both social prescribers and the local Patient Participation Group.
