Be intentional with what you put on.
Have you watched it yourself?
Do you like the language?
Do you like how it feels?
Do you like the behaviour it might encourage?
Children’s programmes today are very different to what many of us grew up with. Faster pace, constant scene changes, designed to hold attention and create addiction.
That doesn’t mean we avoid it completely… it means we choose carefully.
In our home, TV is a tool.
O has cystic fibrosis, and we use it to support her physio and nebuliser. She’s never really watched it for any other reason - unless she’s sick.
We choose calm, meaningful storylines.
Programmes that support regulation, not overstimulation.
We lean towards TV over tablets.
We only use a tablet for long travel days, and even then, it’s intentional… used as a tool for learning, not mindless watching.
You are the adult. You are in control.
We can shape our children’s relationship with screens from the very beginning.
It starts with what we choose 🤍
