Over the past few weeks we have been using meals from Appetito and we are really enjoying the dishes coming out of the kitchen 🍽️

We still like to add our own personal touch here at St. Agnes, complimenting meals with homemade additions and freshly prepared sides to make them feel comforting and familiar for our residents.

One thing we are especially focusing on is creating more of our own evening desserts from scratch, including exploring more diabetic-friendly options so everybody can enjoy a little treat 💛

Here’s a little look at some of the meals and desserts enjoyed recently at St. Agnes 😊

Looking for a warm, supportive retirement home for yourself or a loved one?

We provide a comfortable and welcoming home for people who enjoy maintaining as much independence as possible while receiving the support they need.

Suitable for residents who may need:
• Gentle prompting and support
• Assistance from 1 carer
• Assistance from 2 carers where appropriate
• Support with day-to-day living and personal care

Please note: We are a retirement home and are not a nursing facility. We may not be suitable for people requiring advanced nursing care or complex specialist support needs.

If you're exploring options for yourself, a family member, or have been referred through social services, we'd be happy to talk through whether we may be the right fit.

At St. Agnes Retirement Home, we are incredibly grateful for the trust and support shown to us by our residents and their families over the years. 💛

We often kindly ask for feedback and reviews to be shared with the CQC, but we would also love to share some of your kind words with our wider Facebook community too.

If your loved one currently resides with us, or has previously been part of the St. Agnes family, and you feel comfortable doing so, we would be so grateful if you could leave us a Facebook review or recommendation. Your words mean so much to our team and may also help reassure other families beginning their own care journey.

We understand that for some families these memories can be emotional, and there is absolutely no pressure — but every review, comment, or kind message is truly appreciated and valued by us all.

Thank you for continuing to support our small family-run home. 🌿

✨ Our Little Shop at St. Agnes ✨

We’re excited to be reintroducing our in-house shop with the help of our new Activities Coordinator 🤍

From sweet treats and toiletries to little everyday essentials, our shop gives residents the chance to browse, choose their own items, and enjoy a little bit of independence in a relaxed and familiar setting.

The shop has always quietly run in the background, but we’re looking forward to opening it properly a few times each week and making it a lovely little social activity too 💛

Sometimes it’s the simple things — choosing a favourite chocolate bar, picking a new shower gel, or having a chat while browsing — that make a place feel even more like home ✨

☀️ We’ve been making the most of some lovely sunny days so far this spring here at St. Agnes 💛

Our garden is such a special part of our home — somewhere to relax with a cup of tea, enjoy the fresh air, chat with friends and soak up a little sunshine 🌿

As we head into May, we’re really looking forward to even more garden days this summer 🌸
We also love welcoming residents who enjoy gardening to get involved with planting flowers, helping care for the garden and watching everything bloom through the warmer months 🌼

There’s something so lovely about being outdoors together and enjoying the simple pleasures of the season ☀️

🐠✨ A little moment of calm ✨🐠

Our aquarium has become one of the residents’ favourite spots to sit and relax 💙
There’s something so peaceful about watching the fish swim gently by — a lovely calming space for quiet moments, conversations and reflection.

Creating a warm, homely environment is so important to us, and it’s often the little things that bring the biggest smiles 🤍

Today at St. Agnes Retirement Home we had a wonderful morning celebrating VE Day 🇬🇧❤️

A huge thank you to the fantastic D-Day Dollies for bringing so much joy, music and nostalgia to our home. The dining room was full of singing, smiles and a lovely community atmosphere as we remembered and honoured such an important moment in history.

From the decorations and flags to the classic songs and shared memories, it was a truly special morning enjoyed by residents, staff and visitors alike.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so memorable ✨

📚✨ Our Little Library Corner ✨📚

One of the cosiest little spots in our home 💛
A quiet place to sit, relax and enjoy a good book, whether it’s a favourite story from years gone by or something completely new.

We love creating spaces that feel warm, homely and comforting for our residents — little corners where memories, conversations and moments of calm can be enjoyed together ☕📖

Sometimes it’s the simple things that make a place feel like home 🤍

💛 It’s the little moments that make a day feel special

Today was all about simple pleasures—good conversation, a cup of tea, and sharing a few stories together.

There’s something comforting about familiar routines and friendly faces. It’s often these small, everyday moments that mean the most.

We hope everyone’s found a little moment to enjoy today 💛

💭 How do you know when a loved one might need a little extra support?

It’s not always obvious—and it often happens gradually.

Some small signs families tell us they noticed:
• Forgetting to eat regular meals
• Struggling with stairs or moving around safely
• Wearing the same clothes for several days
• Becoming more withdrawn or less confident

These moments can feel worrying, but they’re also a chance to step in early and offer support.

If you’re ever unsure, you’re not alone—we’re always here for a friendly chat, even if it’s just to talk things through 💛

🛑 Is your home still as safe as it used to be?

As we get older, small things can become bigger risks—like loose rugs, poor lighting, or stairs without rails.

Here are 3 simple ways to make your home safer today:
✔️ Remove trip hazards like rugs or clutter
✔️ Make sure hallways are well-lit
✔️ Install grab rails in bathrooms

If you’d ever like a friendly chat about staying safe at home, we’re always here to help—no pressure, just advice 💛
