"I’ve had a recurring problem with my right shoulder for several years. It has been really bad for the last few months. I’d had steroid injections that didn’t work. Hannah treated my shoulder and after two sessions I saw massive improvement. After three sessions Im amazed at the progress."

Soft tissue injuries are the bane of any physically active person, right? 😬

What is soft tissue?

The human body comprises various soft tissues that serve to provide support, connections and protective coverings for internal organs and bones. These soft tissues include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, fat and blood vessels.

Soft tissue injuries are frequently observed in muscles, tendons and ligaments, with conditions such as tennis elbow, hamstring strains or ankle sprains being the most common. Such injuries often arise during sports activities or exercise, but they can also occur spontaneously without any known cause.

How can you avoid soft tissue injuries?

In order to avoid repetitive injuries, it is crucial to adopt a gradual and measured approach when engaging in exercise and sports.

This involves gradually acclimatising your body to a particular activity, avoiding abrupt increases in workout volume beyond 10% per week.

Get in touch or find out more on this topic via our 'How to avoid the most common workout or sports injuries' blog on our website.

What should you wear to your osteopathy appointment?

In Osteopathy, it is crucial to work closely with your body. To facilitate this, we kindly request that you undress to a suitable level, preferably to your underwear. However, our primary goal is to ensure your comfort and relaxation during the session. If un******ng to that extent makes you uncomfortable, we suggest wearing shorts, leggings, or a sports bra, whichever makes you feel at ease.

Many older people mistakenly believe that the effect of ageing on their body’s joints is "untreatable" and "inevitable." We're here to tell you that you don’t have to live a lesser life because of pain.

Keeping an active life is very important as we age. It is proven to help mobility, which can help minimise the risk of falls and have serious consequences for your future health. Know that getting moving is the best thing you can do for your health.

If you need some assistance, it may be the perfect time to book a consultation with an Osteopath. They will listen, and then work with you on a management plan to get you back on the pitch, on your bike, into the garden, or playing with your grandkids.
