Guitar Fix Mick I Fix Guitars
I love Guitars but seriously they are annoying. I mean, they're never perfect. I love doing it too.

they buzz rattle and are a pain to play, But over many years of messing around and sorting them out, I have learned how to fix them.

This really nice tele limited edition came to my bench. It was re-fretted with stainless steel frets by another company. The problem was that it kept choking out when bending the strings. Although, my customer wanted to very much maintain the 'feel' and playability of the guitar.
The solution, was to identify which frets were high, a lot in this case, and dress each one individually. It's a time consuming process, but the results we're worth it. It now plays perfectly and the 'feel' and playability remained un-changed.

A nice job on my bench. a simple repair and not very expensive either, especially in these hard times. After removing splinters from inside the break, I was able to get it to close up near perfectly and so saved my customer the need to have the neck refinished. I also cleaned the fret board and polished up the frets, but forgot to take more photos, again!

Hi, I have had a quiet month so far. I am thinking that all the current concerns with the rising fuel prices and cost of living prices have slowed things down for people.
One thing you can rely on when bringing your guitar to me; No fancy upmarket prices... I do a good job at a fair price. Simple!

One Gibson Les Paul Custom. Actually a very nice LP to be fair. It's well made and well finished. so mostly a basic set up. But, a very mint condition guitar so working on it was a case of treading very carefully. One slip and my reputation is out of the window!
Needed a little fret work and intonation, so not too difficult. Of course frets polished to perfection, makes sting bends so smooth. I do get attached to all the guitars that come to my bench and this was a beaut:)

Here's a thing. Whether I am changing your strings, setting up your guitar, repairing a broken neck or re-fretting your guitar, I am, and I feel, very privileged to be the person chosen to do the job you want done on your beloved instrument, or the tool of your trade. Truth is, it's quite a scary thing for me. Sure I know what I am doing, but I will tell you when I don't know. But, for me, I do not want a four star review from any of my customers. I would of course be willing to learn from honest feedback, I am not perfect. Learning is a forever process and I do want honest feedback. The 'Thing' for me is, I really really do do want your five star review. But, I want you to really mean it when I achieve that. So when you drop your guitar on to my bench, no matter who you are, or how big or small the job is, I am only working for the five star review that YOU want to give to me. I charge a little less than others, I try to give more. But, a five star review for me is the thing that say's that I achieved what I set out to do.

Brand new Tokia on my bench. Beautiful guitar but needed a complete Delux' set up. It played poorly and had strings buzzing like a hive of bee's.
This needed a complete fret dress and then a full set up. It's more work than you'd think a decent mid range guitar would need but sadly, it's not all that unusual for a brand new guitar to require that amount of work. So if you have a nice new guitar and are wondering why you get string buzz and why it plays poorly then do not worry, you are not alone. Bring it to me and I will sort it out for you. A delux' set up starts at just £75 and doesn't take too long.

Just a quick post, I forgot to take a finished picture, but this guitar had a lot wrong with it. so basically a rebuild, including a full fret dress and set up. also, a new pickup selector installed. It looked great in the end and plays really nicely too. shame I forgot the finished pics.
I am always here for all your guitar repair needs
regards Mick

Here is an interesting guitar. A cross between a Mexican and Japanese Strat.
This needed a setup, and some electrics sorting out. Also frets polishing up. It's actually an awesome player so well worth swapping the parts about. The beauty of the strat is being able to easily upgrade and change parts.

Something came up recently. I was talking with a potential customer, and like all businesses I need paying customers of course. However, during the discussion about changing the bridge and nut on a relatively inexpensive acoustic guitar which would definitely improve the sound, but would have been poor value. it turned out that my customer is a beginner on the guitar. So I gave the following advice so said, 'rather than spend all that money on the guitar, it would be money better spent getting some good lessons' Sadly this clearly upset and annoyed my potential customer because he dropped out of the chat.
Thing is, my advice cost me money, but that's ok, rightly or wrongly that was my honest advice.. I want happy customers who know they are getting honest advice and value for money. I may not be a good sales person, but giving the best service to my customers is what drives me.
