What is Forrest Yoga?
People often ask what Forrest Yoga is (hint - it’s not to do with trees!)
Today’s Forrest Yoga post summed up a lot of what I love about this practice.
It’s not about perfect poses. It’s not about pushing through or pretending everything is fine.
If you enjoy vinyasa, you’ll recognise some familiar poses and flowing movement. Forrest Yoga is strong yet accessible practice that keeps the flow but also invites you to slow down, breathe deeply and pay attention to what’s really going on in your body.
That’s what makes the physical practice of Forrest Yoga distinctive is its emphasis on “turning on your deep breathing”, cultivating a deeper awareness and learning to really listen to your body rather than simply moving through a series shapes.
That’s what keeps bringing me back to it.
It’s a practice that encourages you to stay present with what’s real - building strength, courage and connection both on and off the mat.
I teach my independent Forrest-inspired class every Monday morning after school drop-off (9:15-10:15) at The Chapel Gym Halls, Wheathampstead - non-members welcome!
A strong, welcoming way to start the week 💚
