💛 What if feeling overwhelmed didn’t have to be your normal?

I’ve just looked back at the feedback from one of my last 6-week Nervous System Reset courses, and it reminded me exactly why I created this course in the first place.

Before the course, one participant described life as:

“Bordering burnout with no coping strategies.”

By the end, they had developed a much greater awareness of what was happening in their body, understood their different states and, most importantly, had practical tools they could actually use.

Their biggest changes?

✨ Realising that worrying doesn’t help with things outside their control
✨ Having tools to manage difficult moments
✨ Feeling more in control
✨ Making time for themselves without guilt
✨ Becoming more aware of their body and what it was telling them
✨ Developing regular self-reflection

And their description of the course?

“It makes you more self & body aware and provides tools to improve.”

When asked what they would say to someone thinking about joining:

“Highly Recommend as a priority for self growth.” 💛

That’s exactly what I want this course to be.

Not another thing on your already enormous to-do list.

Not sitting in a room being forced to share your deepest thoughts with strangers.

And definitely not being told to “just relax” when you’re already overwhelmed! 😂

It’s six weeks of understanding what is happening when stress, anxiety and overwhelm take over — and learning simple tools to help you through it.

We’ll explore your brain and body, stress responses, your nervous system and the impact of past experiences, alongside practical techniques including:

🌿 EFT tapping
🌿 Breathing techniques
🌿 Grounding
🌿 Nervous system tools
🌿 Body awareness
🌿 Meditation
🌿 Practical strategies you can use in everyday life

And every week, you’ll leave with something you can actually use outside the room.

Whether you have children or not, whether you’re juggling work, family, caring responsibilities or simply feel like life has become a lot — this course is for you.

I said I have a BIG announcement for you all and here it is. TWO completely FREE You, Me & ADHD® online talks with LIVE Q&A are officially OPEN for registration now. These talks are suitable for all ages and the links to sign up are below, they will fill up fast. 💻🧠🎗️👇🏼

The amount of messages I get daily from people asking me “How can I come to one of your talks?” “Ryan, please can you come to our school, group, town, city?” has been incredible, I have been absolutely inundated over the last 9 months since the voluntary You, Me & ADHD initiative started.

The problem is that so many of my sessions and talks over the next two months on the UK tour are inside schools, colleges, universities, organisations and community settings. Because of safeguarding and access restrictions, I can’t just invite the general public into those rooms.

And that’s been bothering me.

Because I know there are parents out there trying desperately to understand their child.

Teachers trying to understand the pupil sitting in front of them.

Adults who have spent years wondering why their brain works the way it does.

Partners and families trying to understand somebody they love.

And people who simply cannot afford to spend hundreds of pounds on courses, coaching or private support.

So I’ve opened up two online sessions for absolutely anybody who wants to come.

And they are completely FREE.

No catch. No course to buy afterwards. No subscription. No sales pitch.

Just me, you and ADHD.

I’ll share what living with ADHD has actually been like for me since childhood. The good bits, the difficult bits and the things I wish somebody had explained to me years ago.

We’ll talk about RSD, emotional regulation, executive functioning, masking, education, relationships, communication, misconceptions, strengths, struggles and practical ways of understanding ADHD.

And you’ll be able to ask questions too.

🌊 Your child doesn’t need a perfectly calm parent. They need a parent who knows how to come back to calm.

Because some days at home can feel BIG.

Big emotions.
Big reactions.
Plans changing.
Sensory overload.
Meltdowns.
Worry.
Frustration.
And sometimes… you’re trying to hold it all together while your own nervous system is screaming, “I’ve had enough!” 😩

And that’s where understanding your own nervous system can make such a difference.

Because when you can pause instead of react…

When you can regulate yourself before trying to regulate your child…

When you understand that behaviour is often communication…

Something starts to change.

You become the calm in the storm.

Not because you never get overwhelmed.

Not because you get everything right.

But because you have tools to help you find your way back.

And your child feels that.

Your breathing slows.
Your voice softens.
Your body feels safer.
The atmosphere changes.

And that calm can ripple outwards.

🌊 From you…
🌊 To your child…
🌊 Into your home…
🌊 And eventually into how your child learns to understand and manage their own big feelings.

This is at the heart of my Understanding Stress, Anxiety & Overwhelm course.

We’ll explore what stress and overwhelm actually do to the brain and body, why we sometimes react in ways we don’t want to, and practical tools you can use when life feels a LOT.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can change isn’t the situation around us…

It’s what happens inside us when the situation arrives. 💛

📍 Starts Thursday 17th September

✨ 6-week course

If you’re ready to understand yourself better, feel more equipped and create a little more calm at home, I’d love to have you join me.

🌿💛 Walk For Wellness — Just 2 Days To Go! 💛🌿

Our first SENDure Wellness Walk is happening this Wednesday, and we’d love for you to join us!

📅 Wednesday 9th September
⏰ Meet at 9:15am
📍 Meet at Clara’s

Whether you’re a regular walker, haven’t exercised in ages, want some fresh air, or simply fancy some time to chat with other parents and carers... you are very welcome. 💛

This isn’t about how fast you walk, how far you go or your fitness level. There’s no pressure or judgement. Just an opportunity to get outside, connect with others and take a little time for yourself.

The route will start at Clara's and take us down past the Pavilion, along the sea wall, up the ravine and back across West Cliff finishing where we started.

🌱 Walk at your own pace
💬 Chat as much or as little as you like
🤝 Come on your own or with the family

And if you’ve been thinking about joining but feel a little nervous, please don’t worry. You won’t be left on your own. We’ll make sure everyone feels welcome and included.

Sometimes taking that first step is the hardest part.

We’ll take the next ones together 🌿💛

🌿 YOU ASKED. I LISTENED. I’M DOING IT AGAIN. 🌿

Back in June, I closed the door on another 6-week Nervous System Reset course.

And honestly?

I’m still thinking about it. 💙

People arrived carrying stress, worry, overwhelm, responsibilities and that familiar feeling of…

“I used to cope better than this.”

Over six weeks, we explored the brain, body and nervous system.

Why we react the way we do.

Why our bodies sometimes go into overdrive.

How our past experiences can shape our responses today.

And, most importantly…

what we can actually DO about it.

There were plenty of lightbulb moments:

✨ “Ohhh… THAT’S why I do that!”

✨ “So I’m not just rubbish at coping?”

✨ “My body is actually trying to protect me?”

Because you’re not broken.

You’re not too sensitive.

You’re not failing.

Your nervous system is doing what it has learnt to do.

And when you understand it, you can start working with it rather than fighting against it.

That’s where things start to change. ❤️

And then you asked…

“Are you doing another one?”

“Can you do it in the evening?”

“I work during the day — is there another option?”

So…

YOU ASKED. I LISTENED. 🙌

🌿 UNDERSTANDING STRESS, ANXIETY & OVERWHELM

A 6-week evening course where we’ll understand what’s happening in your brain and body AND build a practical toolbox you can take away with you.

We’ll explore and practise tools including:

🌬️ Breathwork
🤲 EFT Tapping
🧘 Meditation & mindfulness
🌿 Nervous system regulation
💭 Body awareness & grounding
✨ Simple techniques you can use when stress and overwhelm start taking over

Because knowing why you feel the way you do is helpful.

But knowing what to DO when you feel it?

That’s powerful.

And no, the aim isn’t to become someone who never gets stressed.

Good luck with that. 😂

It’s life. Things happen.

The aim is to understand yourself better, recognise what’s happening and have practical tools to help you navigate those difficult moments.

📅 Thursday 17th September

If you’ve been thinking…

“I don’t know why I’m struggling so much.”

🌿 Sometimes you don’t need another answer. You just need to move.

I’m so excited to be starting our Walk for wellness sessions with SENDure CIC in September. 💚

There’s something about walking alongside someone rather than sitting opposite them.

No pressure to make eye contact.

No expectation to have the “right” words.

No sitting still trying to untangle everything in your head.

Just walking.

Breathing.

Talking when you want to.

And sometimes… not talking at all.

When life feels overwhelming, our attention can become very narrow. We get stuck focusing on the problem — the next appointment, the school email, the behaviour, the worry, the thing that isn’t working.

Getting outside gives us a chance to literally change our perspective.

We widen our view.

We move our bodies.

We breathe a little deeper.

We connect with nature.

And we give our nervous system some space to come down a gear.

There’s good scientific evidence that spending time in nature can support stress regulation, and there’s something beautifully simple about combining that with gentle movement and a safe conversation.

And for families living alongside SEND, where life can sometimes feel like one long list of appointments, battles, waiting lists and things to organise…

I think we could all do with a bit more space to breathe.

So I’m really looking forward to walking, talking, listening, laughing and hopefully creating a little pocket of calm together. 🌿

Walk & Talk with SENDure — starting in September.

Because sometimes, changing where you are helps you see things differently.

And sometimes the best conversations happen when you’re simply walking side by side. 💚

“STOP SHOUTING AT ME!”

Ever told your child off and they’ve said this — while you’re standing there thinking:

“I’M NOT SHOUTING!” 😳

There’s actually something really interesting happening here, particularly for some ADHD children.

If their nervous system is already on high alert, their amygdala — the brain’s threat-detection system — may already be working overtime.

So when you raise your voice, sound frustrated, become more animated or even simply sound different, their brain can interpret that as threat or danger.

And when the amygdala detects threat?

🚨 The alarm gets louder.
🚨 Their stress response increases.
🚨 Their ability to listen, process language and think logically can reduce.

So you might genuinely feel like you’re speaking normally…

…but their nervous system may be hearing “danger”.

And this is where I want you to remember:

When you raise your voice, you’re not pushing a button.

You’re pulling a pin.

This isn’t about being a perfect parent.
We ALL lose our patience sometimes. 🙋‍♀️

It’s about having another tool in your parenting toolbox.

Think about it this way…

You wouldn’t try to move a bull by screaming at it, waving your arms around and making yourself even more threatening. 🐂

You’d be much more likely to get hurt — because you’ve just added more threat to an already heightened situation.

You’d make yourself calm, steady and predictable.

And children can be very similar when their nervous system is overwhelmed.

When they escalate, try going quieter rather than louder.

Get close.

Lower your voice.

Slow your words down.

Whisper if you have to.

Try:

“You’re really cross. I’m here. We’re going to sort this out.”

Then pause.

Give their brain a moment to catch up.

You don’t have to remove the boundary.

You don’t have to excuse the behaviour.

You’re simply helping their nervous system feel safe enough to hear the boundary.

And watch what happens when your nervous system goes quiet.

Quite often, theirs begins to follow.

Because a dysregulated child doesn’t always need a bigger reaction from us.

Sometimes they need us to be the calm nervous system in the room. ❤️

So next time you feel yourself getting louder…

Stop.

Breathe.

Lower your voice.

Get calm.

Get connected.

Then deal with the behaviour.

Because:

Regulation before reasoning.
Connection before correction.
Calm before consequences.

You don’t need to win the battle.

You need to help their nervous system come back down. ❤️
