The vibrancy and variety of herbs are just incredible! Leading walks around Jekka’s herbetum is a pleasure and honour. Everytime I get to visit i learn more about growing, build on the varieties I know, and of course leave with a few more plants πŸ€πŸŒ±πŸ’š

It's been a fantastic open day with lots of chat and cross pollination. Round two tomorrow. Thanks for inviting me back , it's such a pleasure to be here πŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ’š

The first Rose harvest of the summer always feels like a milestone moment πŸ©·πŸ’•. This year it took place on 1st June - the very start of summer.

Roses (scented) offer a wonderful medicine for the emotional heart. A holding, a hug, gentle support. A feeling of nurture, a reminder that 'all is well' - even when our thinking says otherwise...

The heart - anatomical and functional - cannot be separated from the emotional. They are intertwined. This is recognised in all traditional medicine systems that I am aware of, but lacking in modern medicine. Our use of language is an important clue:
🩷 Heart broken
🩷 Heart weary
🩷 Into the heart of the matter
🩷 Light hearted
🩷 Loose your heart
🩷 Wear your heart on your sleeve
🩷 Heartfelt

The Rose family (Rosaceae) is also the home of Hawthorn, which is a wonderful medicine for the cardiovascular system- from a functional and emotional perspective. In fact most members of the Rose family offer a little medicine for the emotional heart. The shape and form varies, and the person and plant are matched πŸ’• via the detail of the presentation.

It really is the time of year to stop and smell the roses. Imbibe her beautiful scent and offer gratitude to our amazing Plant Allies, who offer us so much, so generously πŸ™πŸŒΉπŸ₯€πŸ€πŸ’›πŸ§‘🩷❀️

A few snaps πŸ“· of how my garden is looking today πŸ’š. It is really coming into it's full glory 🌺🌼🌸🌿

A rare opportunity to come and explore my gardens is coming up towards the end of June. There are approximately 120 medicinal plant species onsite and plant labels will be out, so you can have a mooch about and meet many of the Plant Allies that I work with.

Each garden insight session is 2 hours long, it includes a 30min herb walk (digestive herbs / women's herbs / herbs for stress and anxiety), along with a herbal cuppa and piece of cake.

My garden is very much a working garden, rather than a show garden and I can't wait to share the behind the scenes spaces. Tickets are limited and just Β£10 each. Full details are on my events page (link in bio).

Jekka’s June Open Days are taking place on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th June 2026, and I have the honour and pleasure of leading medicinal herb tours around Jekka’s Herbetum on both days, across both sessions.

Jekka will be sharing her wisdom too, and every time I hear her speak, I come away with new tips and a deeper understanding of how to better care for my herbs. Usually, a few more herbs come home with me as well β€” who can resist?

If you haven’t visited yet, don’t postpone! Every time I visit, I am blown away by the beauty, variety and vitality of the plants Jekka grows. The collection of herbs grown and propagated there is incredible. I’m always mesmerised by the many varieties of thyme, rosemary and sage, to name just a few.

Her knowledge, gardens and herbs are inspirational through and through πŸŒΏπŸ’š

The gardens will be at their peak β€” here are a few pictures from my previous visits. Hope to see you there 😊 (tickets are available via Jekkas.com)!

**Why I am passionate about reconnecting with nature**

Last night I did a talk on vibrant spring herbs for health and wellbeing.

How we look after ourselves and how we look after Mother Earth are deeply intertwined. Foraging with care gives us an opportunity to deepen our connection with both β€” nourishing ourselves while remembering we are not separate from nature. We are nature.

We are part of nature. Whole and complete.

And I believe our perceived separation from nature is where many of our problems begin.

This idea that we are above nature, separate from her, able to control her, consume what we like, and take without consequence β€” this is where the root of our problems lies.

Working with nature, and truly understanding that we ARE nature, strips away so much of the unhelpful overlay.

Our real mum is Mother Nature.

When we show her love and respect, when we engage in a reciprocal relationship with her, then love, connection and abundance flow through the gifts of nature β€” in a lived, felt way, where form and formlessness meet and we remember there was never any separation.

The human race stands on a cliff edge.

The more we come back to who we truly are and reconnect, the better.

Our true nature is innate wellbeing. When we strip back the unhealthy noise that our thinking can generate, this is what we come back to.

Whole and complete.
Part of nature.
One with nature.

I believe one of the most important action we can take for our mental health is to reconnect with nature, with our true nature, and with what was never separate.

This is the driving force behind the work I do.

The exquisite beauty of Beltane πŸ’™πŸ’•. There really is something magical about the pace with which spring picks up. The yellows and whites, and now the blues and pinks. The fresh greens, gradually darkening up, the birdsong, the quickening.

These are a few pics from the past few days. A lovely stomp up to Dinas Bran, a pre Beltane almost full moon bonfire, pinky dawn and birdsong and the Llangollen canal.

Juggling a full and busy life means stopping to post up here doesn't happen as much as I would like. But the beauty of the season calls me to share. Stopping for a moment and absorbing the exquisite beauty of it all - the season, the sky, the waters. Drinking it in, feeling it's vibrancy and feeling the connection that we are all one πŸ™β€οΈ

Persistence and perseverance are often associated with hard work - they don't have to be!

When it comes to your health, where are your blind spots πŸ‘€? The first step is about becoming aware of them and acknowledging them.

If you wish to make improvements in those areas, the next thing is to look for opportunities to do things differently.

Be openly curious about what is getting in your way.

Be openly curious about how it might feel to undergo the upgrade ✨️

Don't underestimate the power of making small positive changes. They really compound over time πŸ’ͺβ€οΈπŸ™Œβœ¨οΈ
