More money. More clients. Bigger opportunities. And that lovely feeling of looking at your business and thinking, bloody hell, I'm actually really good at this!

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how many things we still don’t let ourselves do.⁣

Not because anyone is actually stopping us.⁣
⁣
Because somewhere along the way, we learned the rules.⁣
⁣
Be sensible. Be nice. Don’t upset anyone. Don’t be too loud. Don’t want too much. Don’t spend too much. Don’t change your mind. Don’t make people uncomfortable. And definitely don’t get too big for your boots. 😂⁣
⁣
And after hearing those messages for long enough, something strange happens.⁣
⁣
Nobody needs to tell us anymore.⁣
⁣
We start doing it ourselves.⁣
⁣
We question the thing we want. We make ourselves smaller. We over-explain the no. We worry about what people will think if we change. We hold back in our businesses. We make ourselves work harder than we need to. We feel guilty for wanting more money, more freedom or simply a life that looks different from the one we thought we were supposed to want.⁣
⁣
And this is the part I keep coming back to:⁣
⁣
Nobody is telling you that you can’t anymore.⁣
That voice just learned how to sound like yours.⁣
⁣
So maybe there are some things you can simply start letting yourself do.⁣
⁣
Let yourself change.⁣
⁣
Let yourself want what you want.⁣
⁣
Let yourself disappoint someone.⁣
⁣
Let yourself make the money.⁣
⁣
Let yourself be seen.⁣
⁣
Let yourself become someone you haven’t been before.⁣
⁣

And because you know how to do it, you assume everyone else does too.

Because sometimes we sit waiting for the money before we start the idea…

“I know you advise people, but I don’t know what you advise them.” 😂

Cheers, Dad.

But there’s actually something in this that I think a lot of entrepreneurs need to hear.

We want the people closest to us to GET it.

To understand the business.
To understand why we care so much about it.
To understand why we’re taking risks they wouldn’t take.
To understand why we believe something is possible before there’s much evidence that it is.

And sometimes… they just don’t. 😂

My dad knows very little about tarot, absolutely nothing about manifestation and, apparently, isn’t entirely sure what I do for a living.

And that’s OK.

The people who love you don’t have to understand your vision in order for it to be the right vision for you.

They don’t need to see what you see yet.

They don’t need to understand why you’re doing it.

And you definitely don’t need to keep explaining yourself until they do.

Sometimes being an entrepreneur means being willing to back something that makes complete sense to YOU long before it makes sense to anyone else.

Although I may need to work on explaining my job to my dad. 😂
