Thank you so much to Hannah Nepilova for her interest on my work as Perfumer-Psychotherapist.
You can read my interview at the link in my bio, where I talk about using scent as a therapeutic intervention.
Here a brief extract from my interview:
"For her, though, the ultimate value of fragrance is its capacity to bypass cognitive processing. “I’ve had a few male clients – more often men than women – who smell something and they can’t tell me, or they don’t want to tell me, what’s happening inside their heads. But there are tears streaming out.” To some, this area of therapy, where analysis and quantification can’t get a foothold, might seem rather opaque. For Riveroll, it’s where the magic happens: “I really love that kind of work, where there are no words, but something is shifting, something is being activated…What scent manages to do is to dive deep into our minds and hook onto these memories that have been lying for a long time at the bottom of this subconscious sea, before fishing them out and bringing them to the surface.” She concludes: “Then you look at this treasure and think, ‘Wow, that was there? I didn’t remember. And now it’s mine.’”"
