A little insight 👀

People see a treatment cost and think the therapist is pocketing that full amount - I wish that were true 😂

The reality is that “1 hour massage” rarely means 1 hour of work.

For many massage therapists, 20 to 30 hands-on hours a week is considered full time because of the physical demand on our bodies. And those hands-on hours don’t include:

• laundry
• sanitizing
• client notes
• booking and scheduling
• accounts and stock control
• overheads like oils, creams, disposable bedding, essential oils, tools and then general business running costs ontop
• continuing education
• self-care so we can keep our bodies strong/healthy enough to do this work long term

I do this work because I genuinely care about supporting each person on their own wellness journey. But I also think it’s important for clients to understand what goes into each session behind the scenes. Every appointment supports far more than the hour spent on the table.

It's so important to look after your mental health, not just your physical health...What do you do to look after your mental health?

🌍A little insight into mine....
🏕️🌲🌅🌈🐶Those who know me, know I LOVE to be outdoors, whether it's a night away in my tentbox under the stars ✨ a day out exploring somewhere new, an early sea dip before work or catching the last half hour of daylight after work with a quick run on the beach with my boy 🐶🌈🌅🌲🏕️
🧘I try to escape the world for a day a couple of times a year with yoga retreats and attend regular sound baths to pause and reset my mind...hotpod yoga is a still a firm favourite and I attend as much as time allows!🧘
💆I have regular massages myself not just for my physical health but also my mental health, to decompress from work and life💆
🏋️🥦Regular exercise classes, eating (a generally) healthy diet and various supplements are the final pieces of the puzzle to ensure my physical and mental health are in tip-top condition!🥦🏋️

😴⚖️Something I always explain to clients is physical and mental health go hand in hand, if one is out of balance ⚖️ it affects the other...physical pain and niggles can push to the surface when mental health is struggling and vice versa, physical pain can cause your mental health to dwindle and show in signs of affected sleep, foggy brain etc...⚖️😴

✨💆Massage therapy boosts mental health by reducing stress hormones (cortisol) and increasing "happy chemicals" like serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin. Regular sessions can alleviate anxiety, depression, and fatigue, improve mood, sleep, and emotional stability💆✨

This graph shows stress levels, relaxation and recovery whilst sleeping, awake and during massage. The stress levels are at their lowest whilst having a massage compared to the deepest stage of sleep! 💫
