If your neurodivergent teenager is struggling with school, it isn’t always about them simply “not wanting to go.”
For some young people, mainstream education can become completely overwhelming.
Anxiety before school, shutdowns, meltdowns, masking all day and falling apart at home, difficulties with friendships, sensory overwhelm, or eventually reaching a point where they just can’t keep pushing through anymore.
I specialise in working therapeutically with neurodivergent children and teenagers, particularly those experiencing trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm and difficulties accessing mainstream education.
Coming into September, I have a small number of online therapy spaces available, including for young people with EHCPs and EOTAS plans.
My approach is trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming, integrating somatic psychotherapy, nervous system work and EMDR.
We work gently and at the young person’s pace, creating a space where they don’t have to mask, perform or be pushed into becoming someone they’re not.
Sometimes the first step isn’t getting them back into school.
It’s helping them feel safe enough in themselves again.
