We're back. And so is the conversation. It's been a while since we landed in your inbox. A lot has been happening in the world of healthcare UX — and we're heading into the second half of the year with two events we're genuinely excited about.
A QUICK WORD
We've been heads-down. Planning, connecting, and spending time with the design community in ways that don't always make it onto social media. But we've missed this — the newsletter, the conversation, the chance to share what's on our minds.
Healthcare UX sits at a genuinely strange and fascinating crossroads right now. Clinicians are burning out. AI is being dropped into workflows that weren't designed to absorb it. And patients are navigating digital health tools that were built for institutions, not for people. The design decisions being made today are going to shape how care is delivered for the next decade. That's not hyperbole — that's just where we are.
So we keep doing what we do: bringing together the people who are actually working on these problems.
COMING UP
SEP 2025 UX Healthcare Rotterdam. www.uxhealthcare.co
A focused day of talks and working sessions exploring how design is reshaping patient-facing tools, clinical interfaces, and the systems connecting them. Rotterdam's health tech scene makes it the right room for this conversation.
Rotterdam, Netherlands
OCT 2025 UX Healthcare Berlin: Speakers to be announced shortly.
Berlin brings a different energy — a city that takes design seriously and has a growing healthcare innovation ecosystem to match. Expect candid conversations about where the industry is succeeding, and where it's still getting things badly wrong.
Berlin,
NOV 2025 UX Healthcare Singapore: Key areas include telemedicine, AI-driven products, and integrating services with national health records, often requiring multilingual interfaces and strict regulatory compliance
"We keep designing for the ideal user journey — but in healthcare, the ideal user journey is rarely what actually happens."
One of the recurring tensions we hear from healthcare UX practitioners is the gap between designed intent and lived reality. A nurse in a 12-hour shift isn't using your interface the way you prototyped it. An elderly patient navigating a patient portal after a frightening diagnosis isn't a persona — they're a person.
That gap is where the most important design work happens. And it rarely gets enough attention.
We'll be exploring this — and a lot more — across both events this year. Less polished case studies, more honest conversations about what's working and what isn't.
STAY IN THE LOOP
Full programme details for Rotterdam available and Berlin are coming soon. If you want to be first to hear about speakers, themes, and tickets — just make sure you're on the list. Which, if you're reading this, you already are.
And if there's something you'd love to see covered at either event — a topic, a challenge you're facing in your own work — hit reply. We actually read them.
