On Wednesday the 12th August we have the chance to view one of the most dramatic solar eclipses visible in decades.

Although the eclipse will not be total in the UK, more than 90% of the Sun will be covered by the Moon, creating an amazing partial eclipse.

Here in Wigan the event begins at 6.13pm, reaches its maximum at 7.10pm (low in the western sky), and ends at 8.03pm.
