Dead skin and sebum not in the ear! | Episode 678
In Episode 678, we have a very interesting variety of patients. We start with a common but overlooked issue: sebum and dead skin collecting in the skin folds of the pinna. This "dirty outer ear" is often just a result of poor hygiene, but it's satisfying to see it finally cleared. Next, we tackle a patient with wax that has the consistency of dried Play-Doh—it took some serious manual instrument work to shift! Things got a bit awkward mid-procedure when the patient's wife spotted a tiny bit of wax I'd left behind on the endoscope screen and let me know I hadn't finished the job! In today's episode, I am faced with a challenge that literally pushed my professional tools to their breaking point. This patient had been living with significant hearing loss in one ear for over a year, assuming she had simply gone deaf.

Wait until you see what was actually hiding inside. This wax was so incredibly dense and dehydrated that it was like trying to remove a stone. You will actually see my metal hooks and curettes physically bend under the pressure as I try to lever this massive plug out.

The result? A shocked patient who had her hearing instantly restored, and one of the most inflamed, "reddest" ear canals I've ever seen left behind.

She thought she was a PENGUIN! 😂 Eva's Op Update + Ear Infection PEEL! | Episode 674

In Episode 673, we have two very different patients. Our first patient provides quite a shock! She came in with wax that had a significant amount of hair embedded within it. As I removed a large piece, we discovered three small, hairy lumps hidden behind it. The patient was absolutely convinced they were spiders and let out quite a squeal! Are they alive? Our second patient is a much more straightforward case—a simple, crumbly wax removal that is nonetheless very satisfying to watch.
