It's more common that you think! 🤔

IVDD is one of the most frequent spinal conditions we see. Many cases are sent to us for advanced imaging like MRI or CT, which helps confirm what’s going on in the spine and guides the most appropriate treatment plan

If IVDD is suspected, your vet can advise and arrange referral for assessment if needed 💬

Which dog breed has the nicest owners? 👀

We see a lot of lovely dogs (and owners!) at Northwest Referrals, so we asked the team… and their answers did not disappoint!

Which breed would you pick? 🐶

What an incredible start to the Vet 4 Pets Gourmet Retreat at the beautiful The Grand, York! ✨🐾

So far this weekend we’ve been enjoying fantastic cookery classes, great company, and plenty of inspiration — and I’ve had the pleasure of delivering a lecture on veterinary referrals and collaborative patient care. 🩺📚

There’s such a brilliant atmosphere here, bringing together learning, relaxation, and amazing food in one unforgettable setting. And the best part? We still have lots more exciting activities, experiences, and surprises to come over the rest of the weekend! 🍷👨‍🍳🐶

Looking forward to making even more memories with this wonderful Vet 4 Pets team.

Happy retirement Richard and Anji! 💙

Celebrating two incredible careers and the impact they’ve made on our team, our patients and the wider veterinary community 🐾

Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating the retirement of Richard and Anji. Their dedication has shaped who we are today, and their legacy will continue to inspire us every day

Thank you for everything you’ve given over the years. You will be deeply missed, but we wish you both a very happy and well-earned retirement ✨

“This dog was going blind" 👁️ or was it?

In this week’s Diagnostic Diaries, James break down a complex neurological case involving a 6-year-old French Bulldog presenting with episodes of apparent blindness

🧠 What we discovered after advanced imaging:
A large space-occupying mass in the left side of the brain, along with signs of caudal transtentorial herniation, a serious condition

🔍 What makes this case important?
What appeared to be a vision issue was actually rooted in the brain, highlighting just how complex and deceptive neurological cases can be

💡 Key takeaways for vets & pet owners:
• Not all vision problems originate in the eyes
• Subtle neurological signs (like disorientation or bumping into objects) can be early warning signs
• MRI and advanced diagnostics are essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning

At Northwest Referrals, cases like this demonstrate the importance of detailed diagnostics and referral pathways in delivering the best outcomes for patients

Post-op chats at with Dr. Dimitar 🎤

We caught up with Dim after completing a TPLO surgery, giving us a quick insight into what goes on behind the scenes 👀

So, what is a TPLO? 💬
It stands for Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy, a common orthopaedic procedure used to treat cruciate ligament injuries in dogs (similar to an ACL tear in humans)
