“Children don’t leap from meltdown to calm on their own. They first need the steady presence of a caring adult to co-regulate, before learning the skills of self-regulation. And when things go wrong, repair is the bridge that restores connection and trust.”

Something many therapists hear in the therapy room is "Sorry..."

Sorry for crying. Sorry for talking too much. Sorry for not knowing what to say. Sorry for repeating myself. Sorry for not being ready.

The truth is, therapy isn't a place where you need to perform, impress, rein anything in or get it right.

There isnt a right or wrong way to do therapy.
It's a space where you get to simply show up and be human.

Pride can bring joy, connection and celebration, but it can also bring fear, uncertainty and difficult feelings. We know that the world around us, from public debates to changes in guidance, can affect how safe and supported people feel.

This Pride, we’re here to remind you that you’re not alone, and if you're struggling we're here for you 💙

Thanks so much to Fight Through Mental Health for this beautiful illustration.

Some children are not “attention seeking”.
They are connection seeking.

Some are not “naughty”.
They are overwhelmed.

Some are not “ignoring you”.
Their emotional brain is in survival mode.

And in those moments, the words adults use matter more than most people realise.

A calm adult can help calm a child’s nervous system.
A shamed child learns shame.
A supported child learns safety.

Every parent, carer, teacher and professional should read this. ❤️

Today is the start of Mental Health Awareness Week. We’re shouting loudly that great mental health care isn't just clinical, it's human. It’s the kind voice at the end of the phone when you’re worried about rent and too unwell to work. It’s the adviser who listens actively, rather than waiting for their turn to speak. And it's you reminding friends and loved ones that these contact details can save lives. Please share 💙

💚💙This week is Mental Health Awareness Week 💚💙

At DIAS Domestic Abuse Service, we know the lasting impact that domestic abuse can have on mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Survivors, affected by abuse may experience anxiety, fear, low self-esteem, trauma and feelings of isolation long after the abuse has ended.

That's why raising awareness, offering support and creating safe spaces to talk is so important.

You are not alone, we are on your side, support is available and healing is possible.

Throughout this week, we encourage everyone to check in on those around them, start conversations about mental health, and remember that kindness, understanding and support can make a huge difference.

💚💙DIAS - we here for you, we are on your side. 💚💙

“Challenging behaviour” is often unmet sensory need.

Too loud.
Too bright.
Too unpredictable.
Too much.

If a child is overwhelmed, they’re not giving you a hard time…
they’re having a hard time.

Let’s stop asking “What’s wrong with them?”
and start asking “What do they need?”
