PCOS is officially now PMOS and I couldn’t be happier about it.

For years women with PCOS have had this complex hormonal condition downplayed and brushed off- often as just fat and lazy. If you had cysts on your ovaries on ultrasound you had it- if you didn’t you were essentially fobbed off.

Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome demonstrates the wide issues associated with the condition- hormone imbalance, weight gain, difficulty in conceiving, mood issues, abnormal hair growth and many more.

A big win for women’s health today and I hope women with PMOS will feel a little validated today. Let’s hope this represents the shift in acknowledging complex hormonal issues and further treatments and support being researched.

🗣️ The treatment I use most for jowls and facial sagging

There is a lot of conversation around polynucleotides and collagen stimulators such as Julaine and Sculptra, but for me, Profhilo Structura is one of the most impressive treatments available in terms of what it can actually do.

Structura works as a fat remodeller and contains one of the highest concentrations on the market at 96mg in 2ml.

I inject it in a V shaped pattern through the lower face, and it is particularly useful for patients who have experienced rapid weight loss, especially following weight loss injections, or for those developing heaviness and jowling through the ageing process.

Combined with the lifting techniques we use in clinic, it helps remodel and support the fat pads very naturally.

The aim is not to dramatically change the face or create excess volume.

Last week I spoke about perimenopause and the response was bigger than I expected.

The very next day, a patient came into general practice describing almost the exact same symptoms and feelings that had been mentioned in the comments.

She felt exhausted, flat, anxious, unlike herself, and genuinely thought she was just not coping very well.

The reality was, she was likely perimenopausal.

I think a lot of women are still being left to figure this stage of life out on their own, or are being told it is just stress, burnout, or getting older.

In this video I talk through my four point approach when it comes to supporting women through this stage:

1. Looking at hormones and whether HRT is appropriate
2. Prioritising protein intake and strength
3. Focusing on skin health with Vitamin A, Vitamin C and SPF
4. And where appropriate, using treatments that support collagen and skin quality naturally

Sometimes understanding what is happening is the biggest relief in itself.

Polynucleotides vs Tear Trough Filler

Tear trough filler used to be one of the most common treatments for under eyes.

And for the right person, it can still work very well.

But over time, I think the industry has started moving towards a more natural approach, especially when it comes to treating darker circles and tired looking eyes.

In this video I talk about why I now use more polynucleotides in this area.
