You go to bed at a sensible time.
You aim for 8 hours.
You might even have a sleep tracker telling you that you slept “well.”
And yet...
You wake up exhausted.
You need caffeine to function.
You feel foggy, flat, and like you’re already behind before the day has even started.
If you’ve ever found yourself thinking, “How can I be this tired when I’m sleeping enough?” you’re not alone.
And here’s the thing👇
I don’t think the problem is that you’re not trying hard enough.
I think the problem might be that you’ve been given the wrong target.
For years we’ve been told that the goal is 8 hours of sleep.
But what if the number isn’t the most important thing?
What if two people can both sleep for 8 hours and wake up feeling completely different because their bodies spent those hours doing very different things?
That’s exactly what we’re exploring in this week’s episode of The Goode Health Podcast.
We’re talking about sleep architecture, deep sleep, REM sleep, circadian rhythms, 3am wake-ups, hormones, alcohol, caffeine, and why so many people feel exhausted despite technically getting enough sleep.
Because recovery isn’t just about being unconscious for long enough.
It’s about what your body is actually able to accomplish while you’re asleep.
And when your sleep isn’t restorative, it doesn’t just affect your energy.
It affects your hormones.
Your mood.
Your immune system.
Your resilience to stress.
Your ability to recover.
If you’ve been waking up tired, struggling with fatigue, or wondering why your body doesn’t seem to bounce back the way it used to, this episode will help you understand what’s really going on beneath the surface.

And if you’re constantly exhausted despite doing all the “right” things, that’s often a sign that there’s a deeper story worth investigating. That’s exactly what we help people uncover inside the clinic every day.
