Respite at Home Volunteers are a group of amazing caring people who give up their free time to help and support people with life limiting illnesses and give their families and carers some respite and time off from caring for their loved ones. The organistation was formed in 1999 as Hospice at Home Volunteers changed its name to Respite at Home volunteers in 2015, it provides free support in the c
ommunity as a completely confidential service. The volunteers aim to complement the statutory services such as community nurses, Macmillan nurses, social workers, hospices and home carers to support the patient and their family. The amount of time given by the volunteer each week depends on the agreed needs of the individual patient, but averages about three hours per week. The volunteers help is completely free. The volunteers are caring people, who may have experienced the need for support themselves. All volunteers are carefully selected, undergo continuous training and are managed by the Volunteer Manager. Respite at Home Volunteers is always in need of more volunteers to carry on this valuable work. Each volunteer receives free training on a wide range of topics to help them prepare for their voluntary role. Volunteering is incredibly worthwhile and offers you a chance to help others and improve your own skill set. So if you think you could help a family and give up some free time each week then we would love to hear from you. Phone: 01234 743063 or email: [email protected]
