Some news.

I’m finishing my Masters in Sport & Exercise Medicine this year, which will eventually take me up to the Midlands.

To be clear: nothing is changing yet. I’m still based in Swindon, so mobile sessions are running exactly as normal, full availability, no cutback.

When the move does happen, Swindon mobile won’t disappear, but it will be limited and built around my Dyer St hours. If you’re one of my regulars, I’ll reach out directly when the time comes to sort out what works. There’s no fixed date yet, but realistically it could be as early as this side of Christmas, so I wanted you to know ahead of time rather than it catching anyone out.

I’ll also still be at Dyer St Clinic in Cirencester as usual. Mondays, Tuesdays, Saturdays. This will remain unaffected šŸ—“ļø

DMs are open if you have any questions šŸ“±

I’ll confirm exact details as soon as I have them. Thank you for trusting me with your recovery, I don’t take it lightly.

Something’s changing at R&R.

Can’t say much more yet, but the next chapter looks different to the last few years.

Break your job down enough and it sounds like a crime scene.

For the record, no strangers are harmed, patient care is still priority one, and nobody needs to call the police on us šŸšØšŸ«¶šŸ¼

Recovery isn’t just physical. It’s easy to focus on the physio, the exercises, the timelines, but there’s a psychological side to injury that gets far less attention.

Loss of identity when your sport is taken away. Fear of re-injury long after you’re medically cleared. Watching others move forward while you’re still healing. Not knowing if things will be the same again.

These aren’t signs of weakness. They’re a normal part of recovery, and they deserve as much attention as the physical side.

If you’re going through this, you’re not the only one, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Recovery isn’t just about the exercises you’re given. It’s also about what happens around them.

A 2025 review pulled together 11 clinical trials and over 500 people to compare four approaches to shoulder pain: exercise alone, hands-on treatment alone, taping, and a combination of exercise plus hands-on treatment.

The combined approach came out ahead for both pain and function at 12 weeks.

It’s not a huge surprise. Hands-on treatment can calm things down enough to move well. Exercise is what builds the strength that keeps it that way. Neither one does the whole job on its own.

Complete rest isn’t always the answer.

For most soft tissue injuries, the current evidence-based approach is PEACE & LOVE - protect and manage the first few days, then gradually load and move as symptoms allow. Early guided movement tends to serve recovery better than staying still for weeks.
