💜 NICU Awareness Month 💜

September is NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) awareness month. For many families, neonatal care becomes an unexpected part of their maternity journey and it can be an incredibly emotional and sometimes overwhelming experience for parents and families.

As your MNVP leads, we want to make sure that the voices of families who have experienced neonatal care are heard and we would love to chat to you if you want to share. We both have personal neonatal experience and thought we could take the opportunity to share a little bit of this with you.

Calling neurodivergent women 📢

Following feedback, we're working with maternity and neonatal staff at the Trust to make improvements to the care pathways for neurodivergent women and birthing people.

We're starting with a focus group / walk around event on the 22nd September and we're looking for people to join us who are neurodivergent and pregnant, or have previously had a baby in Calderdale or Huddersfield.

If you are interested, please let us know ASAP by commenting, sending us a message or emailing [email protected].

If you can't make the event, but you'd like to share your feedback we would also love to hear from you. What would make things easier for you? Is there something you wish people understood? Or maybe you’ve had an experience, good or bad, that you think we could learn from?

Looking for something to do during summer holidays? ☀️🌸 Happy MOMents are hosting a Holiday Funday on Tuesday 4th August at the AlHikmah Centre in Batley, which will include a zoo, bubble house, sensory classes, slime classes, stalls and more!

We will be there as well to meet women/birthing people and families and would love to see you there ☀️💜

We are looking for pictures and videos that can be shared on our social media pages! We need:

Photos of you breastfeeding - little ones can be of any age!
First feeds/skin to skin.
Close up photos and videos of latching - babies and toddlers!
Photos and videos of different positions breastfeeding - cross cradle, lying down, rugby hold etc!
Baby displaying stimulating behaviours, such as hitting, massaging.
Boob-nastics!
Photos of you pumping/colostrum harvesting/colostrum
