If I had a pound for every time I said ā€œbeautifulā€, ā€œstunningā€ or ā€œgorgeousā€ on a wedding morning, Iā€™d probably be retired by now.

Fluffing dresses, fastening shoes, calming the nerves, making everyone laugh and somehow ending up emotionally attached to people Iā€™ve only known since 7am.

Still canā€™t get over the personalised glass though šŸ„¹

So how did we get here?

A questionnaire, a pinterest board and a good old chat.

Liv knew exactly how she wanted to feel, she just didnā€™t necessarily have the makeup artist words for it (she also didnā€™t need them - part of being a makeup artist is being a mind reader also šŸ”®)

The brief was sun-kissed. Sat on a balcony somewhere warm with a glass of something cold in hand. This is the first bit of glam being applied after a beach day before that 7pm dinner reservation.

Fresh, glowy & snatched but still recognisably Liv.

I fear I may actually be addicted to a glossy french twist lately.

Also can we appreciate how bridal & special occasion hair has somehow become architecture at this point because WHY was I stood there staring at this twist like I built a luxury apartment complexšŸ˜…

A realistic look into Leanneā€™s bridal makeup hour with me šŸ„‚
SO many laughs I couldnā€™t fit them all in under a minute.
My favourite part is when she hops out the chair not even looking at her makeup because sheā€™s so confident she looks great šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Because yes Iā€™m there to do makeup.

But the older I get, the more I realise makeup is just the thing that brings me into peopleā€™s lives for a few hours.

What I actually end up doing is looking after people.

Checking everyoneā€™s okay.
Making sure the bride actually enjoys herself.
Trying to make people feel comfortable.

The makeup is the easy part for me.

& I think thatā€™s why this job feels so personal sometimes, because clients stop feeling like ā€œclientsā€ very quickly to me.

Anyway. Hereā€™s your reminder to appreciate your makeup artist because half of them are running on iced coffee, adrenaline and emotional attachment.

Me especially, with my heart permanently on my sleeve.

Constantly in a battle between wanting to post content thatā€™s relatable, engaging & fun whilst also remembering that my Instagram is technically my portfolio too šŸ˜­

Sometimes I feel like every post needs a hook, text on screen, a trending sound, a story, a punchline, a strategy behind it just to avoid being boring as hell.

But equally, future brides do still need somewhere they can scroll and gather inspiration without being shouted at by marketing every 3 seconds.

Social media honestly feels like a full time job sometimes and after my holiday Iā€™ve consciously taken a bit of a step back from putting pressure on myself with it all.

Trying to let go of the stress around content whilst also recognising the importance of showing my work consistently.

So anyways hereā€™s two static photos of some hair I created recently. Hope you like it lol šŸ¤£
