The Lookout

The Lookout Thanks go to Big Local Withernsea, Active Withernsea, Sport England, Lottery Fund, ERVAS and Shores.

We are a support service for parents/carers of children with SEND. Our aim is to help you navigate the minefield of who to go/where to go, and more importantly be a listening ear. We will also be organising group sessions in Withernsea solely for children of SEND ages 0-25.

EDIT: This webinar is now fully booked. You can watch the recording post-event by signing up for an Autism Central account: https://www.autismcentral.nhs.uk/login-or-register?fbclid=IwVERDUAUQAHBwZG9mAWZkaWQWUOKO6C4IUL8sw_wsjlk0L9Bb06D4vmV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkCjY2Mjg1NjgzNzkAAR56P52mWj7VXsTsLSS9oBr9CdeRFaFLc1YosVmTl0xBYwWE80IyZli-j0yHtg_aem_w9potgo1ZTrhw1Ip8O9KGw

Join our neurodivergence expert Dr Georgia Pavlopoulou and Pete Wharmby, Autistic Author for a free, NHS-funded webinar exploring the hidden emotional burden school can place on autistic, ADHD and AuDHD children and young people.

Together, they’ll explore the emotional toll of getting through the school day, and discuss masking, sensory and social demands, exhaustion, distress and practical ways families and schools can support recovery and regulation.

This session is for parents and carers of autistic children in England who may be diagnosed, awaiting assessment, or finding school increasingly hard to recover from.

· On Zoom

· Free, NHS England-commissioned session delivered by Anna Freud

· Rooted in lived experience and research

Places are limited and we’ll update this post once the webinar is full. Book your place: https://orlo.uk/kG5RY

If you don’t have TikTok I beg you to download it if only to watch this.

A bright, wonderful girl who speak her truth about it being her ‘last day in compulsory education’. The last day she has to force herself to go, have her needs ‘simplified to just anxiety’.

It made me cry - for those of you that know my families story you’ll know why. I don’t know when it will stop feeling so raw, but I will never stop fighting.

For anyone with neurodivergent children in school if they’re struggling this will be a hard watch - watch wisely.

🌟 Time2Volunteer Awards 2026 – Nominations Now Open! 🌟

Volunteers make a huge difference to our organisations and communities, and this is your chance to recognise them 💛

If you know volunteers who’ve made an impact over the last year (of which we have many in Withernsea!), we’d really encourage you to nominate them and help celebrate the amazing work happening across the VCSE sector.

Nominations are open for volunteers across Hull, East Yorkshire, and North & North East Lincolnshire who have contributed since May 2025 (excluding Founding & Long-Serving categories).

A reminder: nominations are judged on the impact of the volunteer’s contribution, not how many nominations they receive—so please share their story in as much detail as you can.
