Planning planning planning!

A brilliant staff day getting ready to welcome our learners back! Lots of creative thinking, fresh ideas and collaborative planning to make sure our support is interesting, engaging and most importantly, meaningful to every learner we work with.

We’ve been busy thinking about new challenges, new opportunities and new ways to help our learners build confidence, develop skills and have fun along the way!

This summer has been exceptionally hot, and we hope families are staying cool, safe, and enjoying the slower pace. Even during the holidays, we’re quietly preparing for the new term and looking forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for a new season of growth.

☀️ A little summer check-in from EDGE! ☀️

It might be a little quieter around here at the moment, but things definitely haven’t stopped behind the scenes! 👀

While our young people and team enjoy some well-earned downtime, we’re still busy behind the scenes — planning, preparing, organising and getting everything ready for another exciting year at EDGE. 💙

We ended our academic year with some great team training, reflecting and building days!

While there was plenty of laughter, every activity had a purpose. Each game was carefully selected to reflect the situations we encounter in the workplace and the experiences of the young people and adults we support.

🎈 The Balloon Challenge: As soon as the balloon was released, it darted unpredictably around the room while we all tried to catch it. It reminded us that not everyone’s journey into employment, education or adulthood is straight or predictable. Our role is to adapt, respond and support people as they navigate unexpected changes.

🥢 The Chopstick Challenge: Picking up Skittles with chopsticks proved much harder than it looked! The slippery sweets and awkward chopsticks highlighted how achieving employment often requires patience, focus, perseverance and determination. Progress isn’t always quick or easy, but with encouragement, practice and the right support, success becomes much more achievable. It also reflects how some tasks that seem simple to one person can feel much more challenging for others, reinforcing the importance of patience, encouragement and adapting our approach.

Every activity encouraged us to reflect on communication, trust, leadership, problem-solving, resilience and the importance of working together towards a shared goal.

Ending the year with time to learn, reflect and laugh together reminded us that the strongest teams are built not just through training, but through shared experiences.
