✨ A little update from me…

As I continue through my MSc in Counselling and CBT, I’ll soon have a small number of reduced-rate student therapy slots available.

These sessions are a great option if you’re looking for support but need something a bit more financially accessible right now.

While much of my work focuses on eating and food-related issues, these particular spaces will be for general therapy work, including:
• Anxiety (including health anxiety)
• Low mood
• Self-esteem and confidence
• Relationship difficulties
• Overthinking and rumination

I’ll be drawing on CBT approaches alongside my wider integrative training, offering a supportive, thoughtful space to explore what’s going on for you and begin making sense of it.

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy but haven’t quite taken that step yet, this could be a gentle way in.

📩 Feel free to message me or get in touch via my website to find out more or reserve a space.

🌿 Just a little note 🌿

After reading Stolen Focus by Johann Hari, I’ve been rethinking how I use my attention (and how much of it gets swallowed up by social media!).

I’m now taking more care to choose where my focus goes, and part of that has meant stepping back from these platforms. So I’m not really on Facebook or Instagram much these days, and I might miss messages sent here.

If you’d like to get in touch — whether it’s for an enquiry, a collaboration, or just to connect — the best way is by:

📧 Email: [email protected]
📱 Mobile: for work enquiries 07902 795015

Thanks for reaching out in the ways I’ll actually see.

🚫 No, Jeremy Vine — the GLP-1 jabs don’t magically rewire your psychology.

Don’t get me wrong , I am a JV fan - TV and radio! But I just listened to you suggest that weight loss injections like Wegovy or Mounjaro change your brain in such a way that you can keep the weight off without behaviour change or psychological support.

That’s simply not true — and dangerously misleading.

As someone who works in this field every day in the NHS and private practice, supporting clients on GLP-1 medications and beyond, I want to gently but firmly clarify a few key facts:

- Yes, GLP-1 medications affect appetite regulation and reward pathways. They help reduce cravings and support earlier satiety — which can make it easier to change eating habits in the short term.

- But they don’t resolve the reasons people overeat, binge, restrict, or rely on food for emotional regulation. Trauma, learned behaviours, chronic dieting, low self-worth, ADHD, stress… all of these still need attention.

- Without addressing these underlying patterns, research shows that weight regain is common when the medication is stopped. Even with continued use, some people plateau or begin to regain if lifestyle and psychological factors aren’t supported alongside.

Let’s be clear:
💉 Medication can be a powerful tool. But it is not a complete treatment plan.

Jeremy, saying otherwise may give people false hope or delay them getting the deeper support they deserve. Alternatively, it can make those who GLPs don’t work for feel shame for not experiencing long term change.

If you’re on or considering GLP-1s — know that you are not broken if you still need psychological support. It’s not a failure. It’s part of compassionate, evidence-based care.

I work with clients using GLP-1 medications to address emotional eating, self-worth, and lasting behavioural change. If you’re looking for support, know you don’t have to navigate this alone.

🕊 On Dying: It’s Not Leaving 🕊
I came across Andrea Gibson’s beautiful poem recently, and it’s stayed with me ever since.

It’s not about death in the usual sense. It’s about presence—the way someone can remain even as they go. It proposes that love doesn’t end when a life does. That being human means holding joy and grief side by side. That maybe dying isn’t about leaving at all… but about becoming something else, something still felt.

If you’re grieving, or supporting someone through illness, this poem is a gentle hand on your shoulder. A reminder that love lingers. And that presence takes many forms.

Have a listen, it’s worth every second.

I have had a flurry of new enquiries and followers recently,so I thought I’d reintroduce myself!

Hi, I’m Melanie 👋

I’m a therapist, CBT practitioner, and self-worth champion based in Suffolk—and I help people untangle tricky relationships with food, self-esteem, and the inner critic that never seems to switch off.

My background is in nutrition and mental health, and I bring a grounded, compassionate approach to therapy—because I believe healing happens when we feel safe, seen, and accepted as we are.

When I’m not in clinic, you’ll probably find me trying to organise myself and my family, walking the dog, or gardening.

I aim to share useful content to help people improve their relationships with food. So I am glad you’re here. 🌿
