🌙 Moisture builds up faster in warm weather, so nightly drying is essential. Its more important to use a drying pot or electronic dryer if you have one each night.

🧼 Sunscreen, makeup, and hair products can block microphones - a quick wipe after applying them makes a big difference.

🔋 Heat can shorten battery life, especially in rechargeable devices, so keep the charger somewhere cool.

🚗 Avoid leaving hearing aids in hot places - cars, windowsills, pockets in direct sun. High heat can damage batteries and internal components.

🏃‍♂️If you’re gardening, walking, or exercising, consider a retention clip or sports band to keep devices secure. Silicone can soften in heat, so check domes/ tubing for looseness or slipping.

🌿 Ear care and hearing care are not the same - and here’s why that matters.

Most of us understand the difference between a dentist and a dental hygienist.
Both are important - but they do different jobs.
It’s exactly the same in hearing health.

A wax removal service:

A degree‑qualified Audiologist and registered Hearing Aid Dispenser:
👂🎧📈Is trained to assess both the ear and the hearing system. I had some very special junior receptionists helping me out today!

It turns out that explaining how the ear works to my own children is the ultimate test of my communication skills. They loved dismantling and reassembling the plastic ear and testing out the headphones. My youngest was fascinated by how the tiny little hearing aids can help people hear better and get them back to the place they want to be - whether it's hearing the U3A presentation or singing in a choir!

They definitely brought a lot of joy to the clinic!

In a groundbreaking new Peppa Pig storyline we will see George Pig revealed to have moderate hearing loss, and he will begin wearing a hearing aid. I often remind clients, that people of all ages wear hearing aids and can be diagnosed with a hearing loss. It's great to see a children's TV program normalising hearing care and showing Audiology.
