Little lost counsellor ๐Ÿคฃ
Do not be concerned if you see me sat in town looking totally confused as turns out I got the wrong time for my Clinical Supervision!
Then I am having some much needed time off with my family and the weather couldn't be more perfect for it for once!

Burnout is real, scary and something that we all need to be aware of, but it looks different for women for lots of reasons. I'm not at this point but last week I was able to recognise some warning signs which is a good thing that I am a very reflective practitioner and self aware.

I spoke to my Clincal Supervisor and I have spent the weekend doing as little as possible! Usually, fresh air and exercise helps me but this weekend I felt the pull towards being more creative and having physical rest. This is not a quick fix and will be a work in progress as I know how important self care is in order to care for others as much as I do both personally and professionally.

I haven't got far with this book as it only got delivered this evening (Shame as I had done almost 6 months without buying a book which is a massive achievement for me but maybe this won't count as isn't fiction?๐Ÿคฃ) but it's one that I have seen recommended for women several times so will let you know what I learn from this another time.

For now though, I'm turning my phone back off to rest and prepare for the week ahead ๐Ÿ’•

So exam stress is here! I usually write a post this time of year around tips to help students look after themselves or to give parents ideas to support their children but this year is different; itโ€™s different as I have two doing exams!

Iโ€™m experiencing first hand the stress and pressure that our young people are feeling. Iโ€™m trying not to be too counsellory in my approach and have only mentioned breathing techniques once this week and tried to throw it in casually inbetween bites of my taco! ๏ฟผ

I want to give them both space but make sure they know Iโ€™m there if they need me for chocolate, hugs, chat, revision support, whatever! The juggle is real and I have an awful headache with the delicate balance of it all!

Really I wish I could take all their stress away for them but tonight when another exam is tomorrow, a story that GCSE results and A Level results arenโ€™t the end of the world wonโ€™t help. So instead Iโ€™m texting them from the next room (and a trip for goodies has been requested for later!) and really all we can do as parents is be there in the best way we can and muddle through like we somehow have all the other stages of parenting! One thing I will say though is try not to put too much pressure on your children, they already have enough pressure coming from school/college and most likely themselves too so they really don't need any added stress at home! Their mental health is more important than anything.

Good luck to all that need it ๐Ÿ’•

Loved our first Wrexham Creative Counsellors meet up today; we walked, we connected and we created a beautiful nature mandala together! It's important we look after ourselves in order to be able to support our clients and it was just what I needed today so thanks to those that joined me (and my lovely counselling friend that popped for a chat at the end) ๐Ÿ’•

I am so excited to be offering our first meet up for the Wrexham area!

You are welcome to join me for the walk at 1pm or drink in cafe at 1.45pm or both!

As this is the first one, it will be very relaxed and I am hoping to offer a creative element too!

I cant wait to meet you all and we can chat about ideas of how these meet ups can look moving forward.

Please get in touch if you are coming so I can have an idea of numbers ๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿ’™ Hundreds (well it seems like 100s but I was never very good at maths) of forget-me-nots are currently lining the walkway up to my counselling room.

It seems so symbolic as they represent a promise that you will always remember someone and keep them in your thoughts. The counselling relationship is unique for a number of reasons but it often feels very odd for me that I have sat with someone through such raw emotions, but then the therapeutic relationship ends. I will always keep clients in my mind as itโ€™s such a blessing to meet all the people I do ๐Ÿ’•
