Somerset Parent Carer Forum

Somerset Parent Carer Forum We work to make parent carer participation an integral part of services in Somerset. We are your voice to shape the services that your family use.

Somerset Parent Carer Forum, is for parent's and carer's of 0-25 years old with an additional need or disability. We shape the services locally and nationally with parent carers, by giving you the opportunity to have your say. We have a 'finding your way' online guide and opportunities to meet like minded parents and carers, to feel less isolated, share strategies, sharing information and to feel empowered. We have a page and group, Twitter. For more information contact us.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the incredible Tasha Potter Art , who joined us at our conference last week.

Tasha spent the day engaging with parents, listening to their experiences, and bringing those voices to life through a truly powerful piece of artwork. As a local Somerset artist, it was a privilege to have her with us, and her contribution added something really special to the day.

The theme of her artwork was The Importance of Being Heard, and Tasha captured this message beautifully in her work, reflecting the stories, emotions, and strength of the families we support.

🦉 WISE Workshop: Supporting Siblings of Disabled Children & Adults 🦉

We’re pleased to share a brand-new online WISE Workshop, delivered in partnership with Sibs - for brothers and sisters the UK’s only charity dedicated to supporting people who have grown up with a disabled brother or sister.

Sibs provides invaluable information, support, and training for young siblings, adult siblings, parents, and professionals, helping families better understand and support sibling experiences.

This workshop has been rescheduled and will now only go ahead if we have enough parent interest.

✨ What an incredible 10 days of Events it’s been!

As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we just want to say a huge thank you to all the amazing parents carers, and families who joined us and helped make it so special.

From breakfasts and games to our Finding Your Way groups and even VR gaming, it’s been packed with fun, laughter and connection. Our family activities were a real highlight, especially Timewarp Arcade (we’re pretty sure the parents enjoyed it just as much as the children! 🎮😄).

And despite the soggy weather, we had a brilliant morning at Ham Hill, getting creative and making bows and arrows together 🌿🏹
