This post is to celebrate two super stars that have assisted the students throughout the in-persona classes.

They're both qualified NRRT practitioners and love helping out in the courses. They get to be the demo body and receive the technique from the students too!

The venue we ran this course at is Tasha's and it's called furahia, in Darwen. It's absolutely stunning. She runs incredible soundbaths every week and offers bodywork therapies, including NRRT. I highly recommend her studio. There's a leisure centre right next to it, with a sauna! The perfect end to a soundbath or treatment!

And Jacquie, I have absolutely loved my time with you, you're an awesome host! So many laughs! I will miss our table games. Thank you for showing me how to play backgammon, and for the game itself!! Thank you so much.

I am so grateful to you both, very lucky to have you in class and as friends❤️

Last day of our 3-day class, before the students go onto completing their case studies to obtain their professional certification. Exciting!!!

I'm learning loads too. Every class group has something valuable to share with me and I love that. It's always a two-way street: giving, receiving, sharing: abundance.

I have loved teaching at furahia wellness studio in Darwen, just outside Manchester. So beautifully decorated. It feels very grounding in there. Very grateful to Tasha for opening the doors of her temple to us.

Wow what a first day of training at furahia! Lovely bunch and very keen.

We touched on the 4 Core Principles of Neuro-Rocking Release Therapy and some of the theory on vagus nerve anatomy, functions and relevance, the Gestalt principle, NLP and Chinese medicine.

It's been a full-on day but also relaxed and smooth. Looking forward to the next two days!

Thank you all! ❤️ ✨️

What makes NRRT™ different?

NRRT™ is not about pushing for catharsis or forcing emotional release. It is about creating the conditions for the body to soften, reveal and release in its own timing. This makes it especially relevant for practitioners who value nervous system safety, client agency and gentle but meaningful transformation.

If you are looking to expand your clinical or therapy practice with a body-led somatic approach, this training may be a powerful next step. DM NRRT for details.

Our next in-person course is on May 7-9th in Darwen, and there are 2 spaces left. Hurry!

Healing does not have to be painful.

So many practitioners (and non-practitioners) have been taught - directly or indirectly - that deep healing must be intense, dramatic or explosive to be effective: the cathartic style. But what if honouring the longer, slower, gentler process is the most transformative stance for long-term healing? The body does not open through pressure. It opens through safety.

Neuro Rocking Release Therapy™ offers a gentle, science-based somatic approach that supports awareness, release and regulation without forcing the process.

For the practitioner who knows there must be another way, this work may speak to you. Comment TRAINING to learn more.

Co-regulation is the mechanism that creates safety and allows healing, naturally.

Touch is important. Bodywork is relevant.

How does Neuro-Rocking Release Therapy affect the nervous system?

Rocking has a profound effect on the human nervous system and science proves that humans are wired to respond to rocking. It helps our development in the early years of life and soothes the nervous system allowing for the organs to interact with one another with minimal disruption.

Rocking reduces the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) overload (fight/flight/freeze/friend mode) which has become a pandemic and a chronic state of being among the citizens of modern societies. People are angry, snappy, frustrated, unsatisfied, over-emotional or under-emotional (freeze mode), relationships do not last longer than a few months, parents and children cut ties, the su***de rate is the highest it has ever been, high rates of infertility too, great prevalence of autoimmune diseases especially among the female population, there are school shootings, mass stabbings, social media bullying… These experiences make us feel unsafe which is the root of every traumatic event. As babies, we felt comfort and safety in the arms of our parents, being held, rocked, attended to. As we grow up, we realise we have to build such sense of safety and security for ourselves and it can be very challenging for adults who are mostly engaged in the sympathetic nervous system.

The SNS relays in the amygdala in the centre of the brain, adjacent to the hippocampus (responsible for memory). The amygdala activates in the face of perceived danger or threat and is the chief in the processing of emotions and memories associated with fear. The amygdala is overactive and dysregulated in cases of PTSD, triggering inappropriate responses such as aggression, withdrawal, fight, freeze, flight. Also, loss of appetite or over-eating, feeling stuck in life, hypersensitivity. Such overload subdues the PNS processes (resting and nourishing mode). Some of the symptoms are lack or excess of appetite, insomnia, nervousness, anxiety, a sense of doom, toxic relationships, unfruitful careers… and when sustained for long it can cause conditions such as IBS, adrenal fatigue, chronic pain, depression, autoimmune diseases and more.

The PNS is activated by rocking and it sends signals of safety, comfort, calm, wellbeing and relaxation by the release of certain hormones and chemicals such as serotonin (the mood stabiliser), dopamine (the reward chemical), oxytocin (the love hormone) and endorphins (the pain killer) which are involved in many essential processes like heart rate and digestion as well as mood.

In a regulated nervous system, the endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, digestive, urinary, reproductive, skeletal and lymphatic systems function smoothly and one feels naturally content.

Most chronic pain cases have a strong psycho-emotional component and a dysregulation of the nervous system, in particular the vagus nerve, and this is why we use the Indian Head Towelling technique to gently release the cervical spine which is where the vagus nerve exits the cranium, through the jugular foramen, and travels downwards to all the other organs in the body. Hence its importance!

The splenic branch of the vagus nerve is where many of the autoimmune goodies are created, which is why people that struggle with anxiety would also have digestive issues and possibly catch colds easily or have some other autoimmune disease.

What is Neuro-Rocking Release Therapy™?

NRRT™ is medically-applied rocking and a form of somatic awareness therapy consisting in bilateral brain stimulation for parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) activation and reset of the central nervous system (CNS), and it is inspired by years of clinical practice, modern neuroscience, Gestalt psychotherapy, medically-applied neuro-linguistic programming, and ancient Eastern wisdom and medicine.

The benefits of brain activation produced by bilateral movement are not unknown. You have probable heard of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) which was initially developed for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in war veterans and is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) to treat trauma (Wilson et al., 2018).

NRRT™, like EMDR, utilizes a “theoretical framework of Adaptive Information Processing (AIP), which posits that the primary source of psychopathology is the presence of memories of adverse life experiences inadequately processed by the brain” (Felitti et al., 1998). Why would these experiences be inadequately processed by the brain? In most cases it is because the victim cannot leave the site of negative or damaging events and has to accept them as normal and acceptable. Let’s say that a child experiences repetitive abuse in the family home. The child will learn adaptive coping mechanisms such as dissociation, which then can lead to multiple personality disorder or DID (dissociative personality disorder), Stockholm’s syndrome, aggression, people pleasing, substance abuse… These are mechanisms which do serve an important role when experiencing adverse events but once in adulthood or when the threat is gone, they become a hinder to our sense of fulfilment in life. Psychotherapy, embodiment practices and mindfulness are some of the approaches used to revert these coping mechanisms and so is NRRT™.

Bilateral brain stimulation is all about rhythm and oscillation; it aims to finding the meeting point between contraction-expansion, in-out, left-right, logical-creative, and conflicting emotions. NRRT™ strengthens the neuropathways that bridge the left brain and the right brain, and resets autonomic bodily functions which might be malfunctioning due to tension, stress, emotional/physical trauma and/or chronic pain and digestive issues.
Some other common activities that have a similar regulating effect are walking, jogging, tapping fingers on the table when listening to music, dancing and swimming.

Through NRRT™, and because it is a body-work modality, the receiver gets to actively practice trust, receiving, allowing, yielding, letting go of the need to control and finally surrender, all in a safe, therapeutic space, which induces an instant sense of lightness, relief and calm that can have profound effects on many areas of the patient's life.

Yesterday's introductory workshop has left me feeling elated. I drove to The Resonance Centre - Manchester from York, to meet a beautiful bunch of people for the second time. Most had been to the previous workshop and one even brought a friend this time around. Jacqueline, an already qualified NRRT™ practitioner, came to assist the class once more :) We all had a blast holding each other as we learned, explored and played together!

It is also fascinating to know what other practitioners are doing and how they are inspiring (and healing) others through their work, knowledge and compassion. Here is a shout out for them, in celebration and gratefulness for our paths crossing:

NRRT practitioner and class support Jahqueen Bailey

Mandy Hodgson, a beautiful sparkle in a self-exploration journey. Loves learning and immersing herself in the abundance of life, at Snug Healing

Juanita, the manifestation master haha ;) at The Resonance Centre - Manchester

Dorota, a fire burning strong and grounded. A Recall Healing® - Total Biology - Womb Massage Therapy, at MOC SERCA Dorota Semaniszyn - Total Biology/Womb Massage Therapy

Rita, a calming presence in the group, or so I felt! A Shiatsu practitioner at https://www.instagram.com/heiwa.zenshiatsu/

Angela, Counselling Therapist at Angela McDonnell - The Grounded Way

Big shout also to the Lazy Panda takeaway Lazy Panda Pan Asian for yummy food and a great vibe again. I loved the chocolate mochi!!!
