Did you know that the Nervous system's primary role is to scan for safety and danger to keep you safe?
It seeks to avoid anything that feels unsafe whether that's real or imagined, physical or emotional.
It develops behaviours to protect you from something potentially dangerous or painful.
Today, in club, we explored what protective behaviours are present in us that once served their purpose perfectly, but are still running and now outdated.
We did a powerful guided hypnotic meditation to address the part of us within that shows up with the behaviour and explored ways in which that part can show up more constructively.
This approached is based on Internal Family Systems which recognises that the nervous system holds many versions of us - usually created in moments of trauma. Parts of us that we can communicate with, with understanding and compassion to make positive, lasting change.
What protective behaviours are you aware of within you?
