Chocolate Works Care Village Our dedicated team provides high-quality residential, dementia, nursing and short-term respite care. When we say this is a village, we mean it.

The Chocolate Works Care Village, York is a unique care community set in a lovingly restored, iconic building (the former headquarters of Terry's of York chocolate factory). offering a place you can call home while receiving the care that you need. Within the complex we’ve carefully chosen a vast array of amenities. The result is everything you could need to relax, socialise, stay active and even

spoil yourself – all on your doorstep. An internal market square features a shop, a café, a restaurant and a bistro. And depending what mood you, your family and your visitors are in, there’s a hairdressing salon, a gym, a cinema room, a nail bar, a hydrotherapy suite and a sweet shop to enjoy. We even have our own on-site pub, The Duke of York.

After a wonderful 12 months at Chocolate Works Care Home, I wanted to share that I will be returning to The Terrace Care Home, Richmond, North Yorkshire from Wednesday 17th June 2026, where my support is currently needed.

I would like to reassure residents, relatives, and colleagues that Chocolate Works is doing exceptionally well, and full support from the Operations Team at Care UK will continue throughout this transition.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support, kindness, and encouragement you have given me during my time at Chocolate Works. It has been an absolute pleasure to spend the past 12 months here. From my very first day, you all made me feel incredibly welcome, and I am truly grateful for the teamwork, dedication, and friendships I have experienced along the way.

I will genuinely miss being part of such a wonderful team and community. Thank you again for everything you have done, and I wish Chocolate Works continued success, happiness, and many achievements in the future.

‘Goal-den Moments’ ⚽️🏆

Yesterday we had a very special visitor! Yorkie, the York City FC mascot, came to see us to celebrate their win of the league and kick off our World Cup celebrations ⚽️🌍

We enjoyed a game of seated football and singing along to some classic footy anthems such as ‘It’s Coming Home’ and ‘Vindaloo!’📢

Such an amazing morning! We can’t wait to see how England do in the World Cup, Come On England!!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏆

York Pride 2026🏳️‍🌈💜

This week at The Chocolate Works we celebrated York Pride! We had lots of fun doing all things Rainbow, from quizzes and arts & crafts, to singing and discussion groups! 🎨🎤

We also talked a lot about personal pride, and what we’re proud of in our lives! Children, careers, relationships, you name it, we’re proud of it!

We finished the week off by supporting the Pride Parade as they made their way to the Race Course, then enjoyed some Rainbow Fruit Skewers🍎🍍

Dave Powell 🎸🎤

Recently we welcomed the amazing Dave Powell who is very well known to the York music scene! He treated us to a mixture of 50s, 60s and 70s music and included all of our favourites from those decades!

We enjoyed having a boogie along to songs from Elvis, Cliff Richard, The Beatles and many more! 🕺

Bike Belles🚴🏼‍♀️✨

Recently we warmly welcomed back York Bike Belles after a long break from The Chocolate Works! We are so happy our monthly trips have recommenced as it’s such a unique opportunity to see the sights of York on their Rickshaw bikes🏞️

Both residents and some family members have been enjoying rides around Rowntree Park, down by the riverside, The Knavesmire and even The Minster!

Rides are occurring monthly until November so plenty time for everyone to have a go🥰

‘Time for a Cuppa’ ☕️💜

On Tuesday we held our ‘Time for a Cuppa’ fundraiser in aid of Dementia UK where we had a bake sale, raffle and Entertainment from Bonnie!

It was such a wonderful afternoon, and so far we have raised over £160! Thank you to everyone who came along and donated to this incredible cause that is so close to our hearts here at The Chocolate Works💜

We have extended the raffle deadline to Monday so if anyone would like to still buy tickets please do so from reception. Winner will be drawn on Monday afternoon🤞😊

12 months to the day since I joined the wonderful Chocolate Works Care Home.

I’ve loved spending time with our wonderful residents, their families, fellow professionals, and of course my incredible work family.

Working each day in such an iconic and beautifully restored building makes the experience even more special — a place full of character, history, and warmth that truly feels like home.

Thank you to each and every person who has supported me throughout this amazing journey. Your encouragement and kindness have meant so much.

As our VE Day celebrations come to a close, we held a 2 minutes silence and lit some candles in order to pay our respects and remember those who lost their lives in World War 2.

VE Day Party 🇬🇧🎉🎈

VE Day marks an incredible day in history, the end of World War 2. So, we’ve spent the week reflecting, reminiscing and celebrating the brave men and women who fought for our freedom.

We welcomed the amazing Beth from Jolly Old Time Entertainment who packed up our troubles in her old kit bag and sung us through our celebrations! 🎶

We then of course finished off with a buffet from our fantastic kitchen team! Just look at that Victoria Sponge 😋🎂
